The trials and tribulations of the lost crew of Hatty Hattington, now with cooperative backstabbing!
Ever since Alien Hominid on Newgrounds in ancient times I have adored the art and style of Dan Paladin. Battleblock Theater is more or less the magnum opus of this slow growing dementia gone rogue.. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3544460042 In Battleblock Theater you play as the unfortunate expeditionary survivors of an extraordinary shipwreck extravaganza under the glorious leadership of the treacherous Hatty Hattington. You find yourself on a strange island filled with tyrannical cats that herd you (and your companions) into ever stranger blood sports aimed at pleasing a crowd of death-craving pussycats. It is up to you to rebel and fight yourself up the murderous ladder.. Will you find out the mysterious shift in Hatty’s demeanor, and will you escape from this feline purgatory with your sanity in check? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/...

Played it ever since I owned the Xbox 360, beat it on the Xbox One, and it’s at the top of my favorite platformer video games. It has immaculate teenage humor, an amazing narrator’s voice, a great story that doesn’t get in the way of the gameplay or mechanics, and it perfectly makes sense for you to be in a platformer. The difficulty curve is perfect, and the music fits everything so well that I listen to it all the time in my free time. And the millions of characters you can choose from, being all so incredibly unique, and crazy, I love it all! 10/10!

Battleblock Theater is great! Very silly, fun and challenging platforming, and nice co-op mechanics. Playing online can create some weird physics interactions due to lag but it never really ruined the fun. If you like the Behemoth visuals and humor, go for it. Even though I haven't played it for years, I still find myself whistling the main theme every now and then. The game also has a whole Steam shopping integration to get people to trade and sell in-game items with eachother and I have no idea what to think about it. I guess it's cool since you can technically unlock everything in the game without paying extra and maybe make a couple cents selling costumes you find ugly...? But it's still just gambling and I don't really vibe with that...? Anyway, it's interesting, but I never really cared for it.

I LOVE this game, as a guy who sticks to playing Mario and Luigi all the time. hearing about this game and how it is a 2D platformer got me interested, the jumping, the crouching, the sabotaging your friends with punches and items. This game has it all with it's creative puzzles, funny narrator, unique story and enemies, collectible gems, the list goes on and on. I couldn't be happier with a game like this

It is a 2D platformer that leans more towards its comedy and slapstick with a narrator that keeps making you want more. The art style and music focuses more on a high energy feeling as you grab sparkly monies and kill blocky cats running around underpaid and ignored by potato you call a friend with a hat. The comedy is the biggest seller of this game, with its unique story telling you that its going to be a wild and ridiculous ride starting from the intro while the narrator always has something corny to say (helpful or not) to keep you going. This game was very popular back then and it still holds up today, so buckle your pants and enjoy comedy that was well respected before brainrot flooded the internet.

All my friends refused to play this game with me. I ran through it alone. Still worth it.

BattleBlock Theater is one of those games that wears its silliness proudly and, for the most part, it pulls it off brilliantly. On the surface, it’s a cartoonish 2D platformer with blocky visuals and a narrator who constantly roasts you, but underneath the absurdity is a surprisingly polished platforming experience. The premise is hilariously bizarre: you’re a stranded shipwreck survivor, forced to perform in a deadly theater filled with traps, puzzles and enemies... all for the entertainment of cats! The narrator keeps things lively with relentless jokes and commentary, some of which land perfectly, while others can feel a bit repetitive after hours of play. Still, the humor is such a core part of the experience that it’s hard to imagine the game without it. Gameplay is where BattleBlock Theater shines. The platforming is smooth and responsive, with clever puzzle design that often requires both precision and experimentation. The wide range of mechanics - exploding frogs, j...
