User Reviews
With 96% positive reviews I had high expectations. I've played most Yakuza games to date, 0, kiwami, kiwami 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, some of the samurai spin offs too. The reviews make it sound as if this is a shorter more story focused game, it's indeed shorter but there's not much story and a lot of padding to see whatever little story there is. The game has some of the most bland side quests and it's tied to progression. Even the coliseum stuff that is present in every Yakuza game, is tied to the story and mandatory. The sub-stories are tied to the "Akame network" stuff, so to even see them, you need to do boring fetch quests, I'm talking dozens of find npc in map, they say they want a ramen or something and you bring it to them, to get some points. It also lacks a decent minigame that every other entry has. In this one, the minigame is about recruiting people to do a group fight in the coliseum, I had more fun doing turtle racing in the samurai spin off than this. There's a rehash of p...
⚔️ Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name - A Compact Emotional Rollercoaster!
What I Played: I embarked on Kiryu's emotional journey, searching for answers and facing unexpected twists in this gripping tale. The Good:

The emotional depth - This game hits you right in the feels with Kiryu's potential farewell that leaves you with more questions than answers.
Compact storytelling - No fluff, just pure impact. Every moment feels like it matters.
The Bad:

Wanting more - Despite the quality, the short length left me craving more content and closure.
Unresolved cliffhanger - The ending, while intense, leaves you hanging in suspense for what's to come next.
Verdict: Recommended - Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name may be short, but it packs a punch with its emotional narrative and classic Yakuza charm. Prepare for an unforgettable, albeit brief, adventure!
Short review: good game overall, almost great for a "spin-off". Biggest issue were the graphics. On a 4070 Ti Super with everything at max & FPS limit at 120, was getting frame drops to the 90's in some areas. Worse, enabling DLSS crashes the game, although there might be some work arounds found on the internet. As an aside, I found Joryu's Clark Kent disguise unironically hilarious. A pair of sunglasses literally masks his identity, except that everyone seems to already know who he is.
This answered none of the questions I had between 7 and 8. Kiryu's new fighting style as Agent is fun but I found myself stuck to his classic Yakuza style more often. Sorry, not Kiryu - just some nobody in a stylish suit beating up hundreds of people in Red Light districts to get enough cash to race pocket cars and succinctly says "A." all the time. Don't buy special editions, it's really not worth it. You'll get max level gold rank allies and cash idly by spamming light attack in the arena for an hour, which you have to do anyways to level the crew up and get reliable cash.
Amazing game, i dont know the exact specifics of all the yakuza games in order atp, i dont really care either, people say this game takes off after yakuza 6. i only got to kiwami 2 and im still on Kiwami 2 as far as standard yakuza goes, theirs only so much a person can take of the same boring ish combat play and 40 hour games at a time. however i did buy like a dragon, and i did really enjoy that game, and well, to my surprise...i have no clue what yakuza 6 is like, but like a dragon to my (luck?) is the story that this game follows, even making a reference already one hour in and taking me to ( without spoilers here ) and referencing the main character from like a dragon. That being said. its still the same yakuza boring-ish combat system, run around, bust the same ole combos and fighting styles, and watch the story. that being said, straight off the tutorial i knew this was my favorite yakuza game thus far, the combat has more to it and new features, and the game graphically looks ...
The time has finally come to dive into The Man Who Erased His Name. After finishing Lost Judgment, my expectations were high, but what I received was a very different experience than anticipated. To be clear, this entry serves as an intermezzo between our new protagonist Ichiban Kasuga and the former series lead Kazuma Kiryu, whose story intertwines with the events of Like A Dragon. Nicknamed Yakuza 7.5, the title makes sense. It’s essentially a half-step between two major games. As such, it’s one of the shortest entries in the franchise. Unfortunately, that brevity comes with drawbacks. Much like Yakuza: Like A Dragon, the game enforces progression roadblocks that force you to complete side content before continuing the main story. Normally, I enjoy Yakuza side activities, but I prefer saving them for post-game. Here, as in Yakuza 7, the pacing suffers because the narrative is suddenly interrupted just as it starts to pick up. This particular design choice felt frustrating and a...
I've played every Yakuza game made before this one and they were all good and fun. But this one only had 4 chapters of dialogue. Not much of a plot, seemed like laziness. I won't be buying any more Yakuza's until the price comes down to 2 or 3 dollars which could be in 10 years.
cried with the ending
Gets rid of everything that made the series good.
