About the Game
Developed by Paradox Tinto, the fourth instalment of the award-winning Europa Universalis series gives you a chance to control any nation in the world and lead it through four dramatic centuries - starting from the late middle ages and culminating in the Napoleonic era. Rule your land and dominate the world with unparalleled freedom, depth and historical accuracy. Write a new history of the world and build an empire for the ages.
Europa Universalis IV includes the base game, three expansion packs and one cosmetic compilation pack.

Europa Universalis IV: Control any nation in the world across four centuries of history, writing a new history of humankind from the Age of Discovery to the Age of Revolutions. Accumulate wealth, land and prestige in a fierce competition for global dominance.
Art of War: Centered on the 30 Years War and bubbling political instability between church and state, this expansion features improved gameplay mechanics that puts warfare at the forefront of your quest for domination on the continent.
Common Sense: This expansion focuses on diplomacy and the internal development of nations. It allows you to peacefully develop your nation and build a 'tall' empire, whilst also giving you the tools to execute grand diplomacy. Game changing religious features add depth and intriguing complexity to the gameplay.
Rights of Man: This expansion adds greater depth and detail to a host of game systems. New Great Power diplomatic options give them more flexibility, monarch personality traits add more flavour to the power of the throne and there are new religious options for Coptic and Fetishist religions.
Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack: This compilation pack includes mostly cosmetic content, including new unit art, event art and game music drawn from content packs inspired by Islamic, Ottoman, Central European and American History. It also includes unique events from the American Dream pack.
Start before the Renaissance on a map of the world as it was then. Choose from any of hundreds of nations and then rule up to the Age of Revolutions. Or, if you wish, start your game at any date in the span, with historical monarchs and other leaders.
Hundreds of dynamic historical events are yours to experience, from merely troubling civil wars to world changing moments like the Protestant Reformation. Discover and settle the New World, or resist European conquest.
Control the flow of trade by developing your trade power in key provinces, using ships and governmental policy to bring the wealth of the world to your own ports.
Build alliances into iron bonds, cemented by royal marriage or play a flexible hand, keeping your options open. Strike when your enemies are weak, using your armies to grab new land and new potential riches.
Your nation’s pace of development will be heavily influenced by the person on the throne. Experience rapid development under a skilled monarch only to see things slow down when a less competent heir takes over. Plan for the future by spending monarch power wisely.
Four hundred years of research into new ways of war, administration and trade are available. Unlock new weapons, new buildings and new ship types. Over time, you can embrace national ideas that represent both your historic legacy and your ambitions for the future.
From grand voyages of discovery to religious wars to revolutionary governments, the entire history of the early modern world waits for you to rewrite it in Europa Universalis IV.

*Starts game as France* Goal is to conquer natural borders. "Let's expand north!" - RULE BRITANNIA! BRITANNIA RULES THE WAVES! "Let's expand east!" - HRE "Let's expand into Italy!" - HRE "Let's expand south!" - HRE "Uh, let's go west?" - Why the hell is the HRE in the americas? 10/10 game.
There's way too many DLC you need to make it good. Wait till EVV. Haven't played in years because way too many DLC offer nothing.
PLEASE PLAY ANBENNAR IT'S SO COOL. If you're interested in history, trade, war, and your bedroom then absolutely try this game out. Much like Civilization I think that once you get into the groove of the mechanics, (it'll take some tries but give yourself time to learn and you'll get no shame from me if you start out cheating) it's best played with some good, atmospheric music, a video essay, or a podcast as you take over the spice trade. It's fun with friends, it's fun by yourself, it's fun after work and fun when you're traveling. To me it's just about endlessly replayable between new strategies and mods from the community. It's a cozy, sometimes frustrating game that has become a part of my late childhood and early adulthood. It's a very good game. Never buy the subscription for all the mods. Have some pride and wait for a sale. Also Anbennar is like my favorite shit ever so check that out too
A beautiful piece of art butchered by Terrible AI and Horrid microtransaction(even microtransactions has microtransanction). I like the overall idea of tailoring nations into certain ideals however the execution part is straight up nausating whether because ai (especially allies) likes to act dumb then dump me in the middle of war even though they can afford for more. Now i don't want the enemy ai to throw away the game or ally to win me the war (i mean kinda ?? why ally then?) but it is so FUCKING ANNOYING WHEN ENEMY AI ACTS MUCH MUCH SMARTER THAN MY ALLIES. i am not really interested in the upcoming title though i hope they do better in the next installment for players sake
This game provides limitless replays to attempt any crazy historical scenario you can think of. I get a bit addicted to paradox games and this one has generally been my favorite. Take the reigns of a great power and just blob the whole map or grab a microstate and try to become the dominant power on the planet, it's all in your hands.
After 1300 captivating hours, this game deserves a few words: A game of superlatives👑 Even if you sometimes want to rip the AI's head off and stick it somewhere else. This game is just brilliant !!!! In other words: it transcends the boundaries of the extraordinary in an ingenious waym !!!
This is the type of game that looks really boring to watch and really tiring to play for the first 30 mins to 1 hour until you learn what the overwhelming amount of menus do. However once you get in the swing of things at about 4-5h in, it is pretty good. Taking territory feels rewarding because it takes a lot of preparation and random events can make it that you need to fight half the world to just claim one state with a port. There is also a lot of random bullshittery that makes your country worse for wear (comet event I am looking at you!) but it is sprinkled rarely enough that with some skill your empire can span from Norway to Greece and that is excluding your colonies and vassals. One of the more interesting aspects of the game is trading, it gives you another reason to conquer specific distant territories that produce trade and with it a lot of hard gold for you and your people. Overall if you are willing to suffer through the learning curve, the game is definitely wort...
I’ve recently gotten back into EU4 as a HOI4 player, and I must say I definitely enjoy it a lot more than I did. I only have the base game and the free DLC that came with the announcement of EU5, but I still enjoy it a lot. The music is amazing, its very beginner friendly, mods are great, its just a great game. That said, it is a huge cash grab. WAY too many payed DLC makes getting the full experience impossible, but its expected with paradox who can’t make a game without making you pay billions to get a single cosmetic DLC. So fuck paradox for that. Still good though, can’t wait for the infinite money I’ll spend on EU5.
I really like it and it's good but because of absurd amount and prices of dlcs I can't recommend it
