Cool mech designs! Has a lot of potential and the different weapons each had their use facing different enemies. The action animation transitions can be more smooth. Played on steam deck, so theres a few bugs.

About This Game
Developed by Brain Hack Magic, Counterclocking is a hack-and-slash game inspired by many beloved action games such as Devil may cry, Bayonetta, and Metal gear rising.
The Actions:
Counterclocking is a third-person action game. You control your character in real time to fight the enemies. The control is similar to Devil may cry, in which stylish combo and fast pace maneuvering are satisfying to do. You have multiple weapons to switch to all the time and learn new action moves by defeating each boss similar to the Megaman series.
The World:
Counterclocking takes place in a near-future sci-fi world. A time that everyone can improve their body or cognitive performance with modification. Genetic mutation, bionic implants, or even pure robots are everywhere in the game. The main character is armed with heavy robotic armor and a glowing katana and can switch to multiple weapons during the fight.

Fun game!
Great mech designs, great weapons, great arenas—there’s a clear aesthetic vision here that belies the tiny team. Combat is crunchy once you acclimate to the higher-than-expected difficulty curve, and the boss variety kept me guessing. On the flip side, basic QoL is undercooked: the options menu is skeletal, there’s no regional pricing or language support beyond English, and controller is basically mandatory right now. Give us sprint/double jump (or explain why we don’t need them), tighten the soundscape, and this thing could absolutely anchor a small franchise.
Pros first: enemy AI is smarter than the “mob rush” I expected, bosses are mechanically distinct, and the late-game cyberpunk levels look legitimately cool. Cons: early areas feel cheaper, like greybox leftovers; the settings menu is barebones; no localization beyond English; and the price-to-length ratio will sting in some regions. I view Early Access as a promise, though, and the dev already shipped a meaningful post-launch update. Tighten the fundamentals (audio, UI/UX, input options) and this could be a sleeper hit in the 3D indie ACT niche.
This game is really fun to play. Each level’s boss is uniquely designed with distinct features, offering intense challenges. If you’re passionate about challenges, you might as well give it a try. Its strengths are striking: the action combat feel is top-notch, in no way inferior to those well-known blockbusters, and the sense of immersion during battles is also excellent. Of course, it has some minor flaws: the current game content is a bit thin, though the official team has stated it will be gradually improved through future updates; additionally, the balance of weapons still needs further refinement. Overall, I’m quite satisfied with this game, and it’s definitely worth experiencing.
