If you're looking for an old school ARPG, I'd recommend picking up the original Diablo from back in the 90's over this one. It's $10 on GoG (the Good Old Games program) or $10 on the Blizzard store (for the more up-to-date version), vs the $15 for this game. Diablo is also fully fleshed out with dialogue, quests, and better overall design. This game is entirely too reliant on RNG. Healing is minimal and hit/miss chance for attacks is extremely unpredictable. ToK is NOT a rogue-like. You have to manually save the game, no quick saves, manually going into the game menu and saving there. When you die, you will have to reload your manual save, losing ALL progress between your last save and your death. This all adds up to a lot of deaths and a lot of wasted time due to poor RNG mechanics. That being said, ToK doesn't have a story. There are no friendly NPCs, vendors, or mechanics outside of killing enemies until you die due to bad balancing, so you're not missing much by skipping ...

About This Game
Reinforcements are not coming. Resupply is impossible. Your ascent begins.
Tower of Kalemonvo is a challenging dark fantasy Action RPG - following the slower pace and high tension seen in genre-defining classics like Diablo 1 and Throne of Darkness. Defeat wicked foes, grow stronger, gather whatever loot you can find, and tread lightly - as every encounter could be your last!

Randomly Generated Dungeon
Rooms, rewards and foes are never the same across two playthroughs. Your path to the top will be yours alone.Deep Itemization and Mystical Rare Items
Kalemonvo's loot system is about quality over quantity, carrying risks and rewards to continually reshape your build. Find unique pieces that allow for strange new playstyles: like a powerful but ravenous mask that consumes your potions, a pair of versatile shields made for dual-wielding, or a ghostly cape that makes you incorporeal.

Classless Character Progression
If you have the stats, you can equip any item, cast any spell or perform any combat feat. Play as a max-strength brawler, nimble summoner archer, or fireball throwing hammer-wizard. Adapt and experiment with your build to fit any playstyle you prefer.Combat Arts and Item Skills
Combat is about more than just hacking and slashing. Each weapon type comes with their own arsenal of distinct skills: from throwing two-handed scythes, launching ricochet arrows, or reflecting projectiles with a shield.

Limited Resources
The Tower is not for the faint of heart. Potions are scarce, vendors are limited, and there is no town to Portal back to.A Deadly Climb...
Hellish demons, undead warriors, mysterious cultists and many other malevolent beings will do whatever it takes to halt your advance. Only the most dedicated players will be able to succeed.

User Reviews
Remember all the things that made Diablo 1 great, like a town that you could return to to get rid of your junk and possibly get better items to equip yourself with? Like wandering around the dungeon and slowly regaining health and mana? Feeling your stat increases actually having an affect on your character and feeling confident facing the lower levels? Well, toss all that fun stuff out the window and prepare yourself for a miserable time in "Tower of Kalemonvo". The game starts off fine with reasonable balance, but a massive difficulty spike and suddenly impossible leveling around the 4th floor brings the game to a grinding halt. I thought maybe my luck was bad on this run, so I started over, and tried allocating my attribute points differently and being more careful with the potions....I didn't make it much further the second time through. I'm a huge fan of ARPG's....the first two Diablo games, Grim Dawn, Victor Vran, and the Van Helsing series I've sunk a combined several hundred ...
The atmosphere and setting here are wonderful. However the gameplay -particularly the balance is just not there. It starts off fine but after a few floors your melee character will suffer from the whiffs unless you invested heavily in acc. Not really a game about building your character so much as a roguelike about countering miss chance.
A lot of fun, with a huge variety of abilities to employ. I was craving the lower speed and higher consequence of Diablo 1, and I got it! There are some minor things I might offer as suggestions for this or future games, but all and all, this felt really good! To counter some of the negative reviews I'm seeing: I played and beat the game with a melee focused wizard that buffed myself and used summons. Any class setup is absolutely viable. Also, while many of the items that drop don't have value-- that's the case with all ARPGs. You just don't have a town loop in this one. Which is something a lot of people don't like anyway. This fact this is sitting on mixed right now is criminal. It highlights the biggest issues that Steam Review face: the weight of a vote (up or down) of someone who doesn't get it equal to the weight of the vote of someone who does.
It's simple, good atmosphere, easy to play but hard to master. I like some of the ideas in this game. I'm enjoying it quite well, I can recommend it to Diablo-like fans.
A modern Diablo 1 with interesting twists.
It is a great game. Better sequel to Diablo 1 than Diablo 2.... Be prepared to do a lot of save scumming to get better drops if you want to play on Despair Mode. I personally liked all the save scumming, but some people may find it boring, Final boss is a bit disappointing though. I feel like other bosses throughout the game had more spectacle in their fights.
Much potentional, current problems are being worked on. Anyone who loves D1/D2, you wont be dissapointed.
I've been really enjoying the game for what little I have played. I intend to branch out and try different builds/etc. But so far, I'll say that if you are looking for something to scratch that original Diablo 1 itch and can't seem to land the mark, this might be the game for ya.
