About This Game

Whispike Survivors blends two trendy game genres: horde survivor and farm simulator.

Features:

 • ⚔️ Defeat hordes of enemies to make your Whispike stronger.
 • 🌱 Use the seeds that Whispikes drop when dying to grow them in your Whispike farm and make even stronger hybrids!
 • 👩‍🌾 Turn your foes into manure to accelerate the Whispike's growth!

In this game you will control one of Sword of the Necromancer's monsters and make it fight other critters to make it the strongest! Were you defeated? Don't worry! You can take your last monster's seed, plant it and get it back...

Only "adult" Whispikes are eligible to fight, so you will have to wait and take care of your farm until they grow (or play with a default one in the meantime). Also, you might not get exactly what you expect: by planting seeds in neighboring slots you can get hybrids that combine the original seeds' attributes!

This game hardly knows what it takes to be a Vampire Survivors clone. It feels so confused on what it wants to be and the name just leaves more questions on the table. TL;DR: There isn't enough content in this game for it to be non-early access. It also doesn't feel great to play in the slightest. Farming thing is interesting but not good enough to carry the game. Return in 4-6 Months. Before I go into comparisons, I'll get some gripes things out of the way: ESC Why the hell is the Exit/Back Button... Backspace instead of Esc? Since you cannot click the button to exit and you're required to hit the button shown, ESC should be used to ESCAPE from a menu or bring up a screen. Controls I understand having the Arrow keys being available but why don't WASD work from the very start without requiring rebinding? Tutorial? Help Menu? Advice?!?! The game is lacking information to the point that the Steam Store Page tells you more about what you're doing and how it works ...

I just want to like this game so much. The farming aspect is interesting for a semi progression. It NEEDS meta progression so bad. Permanent stat boosts you can buy. Something. Anything. It feels more like someone watched someone play Vampire Survivors and said, "We can do that." and hammered out something rough. It doesn't have that same good feel of progression or anything unique really.

I don't like this. All of your progress can be wiped. Necromancer spawned. Lost all of my progress. Have to start over from scratch. I'm good. It's like if all of your meta upgrades were deleted in Vampire Survivors because the red reaper spawned and killed you and you had to start over from the very beginning.

The attacks are insanely slow even fully leveled, they seem to attack on the same cycle so sometimes you'll be completely defenseless they take forever to level, the enemy wave patterns are way too aggressive and enclose you every wave, there's zero character progression to increase your base stats, and the chests are so frustrating and feel awful when they whiff. It feels like a cheap cash in on the trend but from someone who just ooked at screenshots of vampire survivors without playing it.

A nice small surivivors-like game. If you like the genre you'll feel right at home. Also works perfectly on Steam Deck even if it's not showing yet the verified badge.

Please be warned..the game is not what it seems. It looks cool and when you enter you realize the dev has either never played a bullet hell game...or is trolling players. You have no chance of winning ever because right from the start the monsters fly out at you and you die immediately. The speed that the plants/heroes move is so slow you cant do nothing but die. Its so imbalanced that I am in awe of how they can release this game. The biggest issue is the hard work you put in is always lost no matter what. There are no meta upgrades and you can spend hours playing...every death deletes your heroes you upgrade. This game isnt a rogue like hardcore game with permadeath you know. Its toted as a cute little game aimed at fun supposedly. But that is a huge lie. There are a few devs out there that make games just to upset people. This is one of them. Every time you create a new plant....which is your character sort of...it dies..you lose all the work you put into it. I am leavin...

Great game! It adds the mechanic to grow your whispikes merging powers from previous runs making the whole system interesting to keep going and playing. It can feel a bit hard at the beginning but you can snowball a bit and get comfy after some time playing

I couldn't decide on how should I write this review so imma write everything I came up with: -Biblically accurate Whispike -Look at him go -The Sword of Necromancer saga was cool but now it's time for the main event -The Whispikes of today are the seeds of tomorrow -Cute SotN spinoff that replaces the long run design of other survivor-likes with shorter more intense runs that will give you seeds with bigger starter stats. It's an evolutionary darwinistic vision of the genre. Kinda reminded me of the breeding mechanics of Tokyo Jungle in a way. -Whispikeheimer
