About This Game

By learning from the playful connections between desire and time pressure in Amsterdam’s city growth in golden age, FloCity simplify the economic mechanics of energy flow. The way of digging freeform canal networks for run-time AI shipping provides unique perspective and experience for city builder. Cities grow by reforming shorelines, smoothing AI traffic flow, developing plots around the busy ports.

Start canal puzzle...

AI ships transport resources from the sinking donut to the inner ports of the hungry cities. Digging efficient canal network is like solving puzzles for smooth AI traffic.

Build adventure...

Urban-scale valves interact with AI ships, including transformable architectures, changeable corridors, falling sculptures, and more!

Driving economy by AI cargo ships...

FloCity creates a run-time energy loop for growing cities: canal digging for AI ships - accelerating traffic - busy ports - boosting land value around the ports - rising skylines - traffic jams - canal digging… The challenge is to build enough houses before the resource island sinks.

From citizens’ perspective...

A variety of minimalist architectures can be generated, from Mediterranean to Kyoto, from Soviet cities to space. After fast-forward city growth, FloCity provides relaxing inner space of yacht, airship, and space capsule for urban meditating.

The sinking donut reminds us to rethink the relationship between desire and speed of resource consumption.

FloCity is about energy, mass and time.

Once I got the hang of some of the gameplay mechanics, I really began to enjoy myself. Pathing the boats through to each port is nice and easy but I still don't really understand how the city gets power. The description of the game actually makes this all much more confusing as it seems like there is a whole extra layer of strategy that I don't understand. I would love to see a little more explanation inside the game. https://youtu.be/pO3Qicg8fcM

I want to like this game. I'm putting it down for now, but I will likely return to it after a while and see if I understand and enjoy it better. TL;DR: 6/10, buy it for $5 or less if it's your thing. The game is beautiful. I really like the appearance, and the boats going through the canals scratch that itch that draw me to city builders in the first place. I like the colour pallet, and the game has pretty decent visibility. I would like to see some accessibility options added for the building grid and controls, but overall the game looks good. The gameplay concept is simple: dig out canals in the terrain to get ships to their ports, then build buildings around the ports to get points. If you get enough points, you can move on to the next section. The canal digging is fun, and I think it works pretty well overall. Boats have a tendency to get stuck on the banks and ports, but giving them a little nudge with the terrain tool seemed to do the trick. I enjoyed setting up a network of c...

The game fails to explain its core mechanics in the tutorial, and this is AFTER the game's only update that supposedly improved its tutorial. Don't waste your time on this garbage.

The game is nice to play, but I have no idea how to achieve the first level because there's no instruction about the base building mechanics. I do not understand why I have boats just aggregating in the same place; or why sometimes my ports don't build around them, or what is the logic behind points. I will be happy to revise my rating if the game improves in the matter, because it seems fun.

The game is super relaxing. Unlike other city builders, I can change the landscape in run time when digging a canal. Levels have more adventures. the buildings are growing around the hot ports, It would be more fun if there are more interactions. The aesthetic and atmosphere are great! Enjoy the beautiful visuals. I replayed in the first level to understand the game. After level 1 there are more “puzzle” and challenge. A very unusual type of “city builder” with a balance between relaxing and adventuring.

Relaxing atmosphere. Discovering more gameplay took patience. It is simpler than other city builder, this game focuses mainly on digging canals for boats to pass. There's more fun in digging.

Flocity is a game about logistics. The ships move to one port from the donut, but they seem to move to other ports as well. No very complicated mechanism, and it also requires a little luck. Ensure smooth canal traffic, let the blue guy kill the red guy without letting it eat too many ships, and you'll be easy to pass the levels. Graphics is great with curve ground!

Beautiful, and the free form digging is also interesting! It's disappointing when the red enemy ate ships, finding how to kill the enemy took time. Moving more ships will get more houses and points. The levels of puzzle is also fun!
