This was a great adaptation of a compelling story, and I feel like I should have paid a lot more for it than I did. It was a fairly long game and a labor of love, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys story-based games and/or quality historical fiction. The characters were complex and memorable, the voice acting was great, and somehow your decisions felt like they had weight even though the outcomes are obviously predetermined. If you can scoop this gem up on sale, definitely do, but imo it's worth whatever the original cost to support the studio and the folks who adapted this so well and lovingly.
❓ What is this
Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth is a narrative-driven adventure game developed by Daedalic Entertainment and released in 2017. Based on the bestselling historical novel, it adapts the epic story of love, betrayal, and ambition during 12th-century England. Rather than relying on traditional point-and-click mechanics, it emphasizes choices, dialogue, and exploration of a world torn by war, religion, and politics.
❔ How I played
I completed the full story campaign, experiencing the branching choices and outcomes. It took around 15 hours to finish, giving me time to explore the environments, interact with characters, and immerse myself in the narrative.

🕹️ Gameplay
Gameplay centers on dialogue choices, light puzzle-solving, and exploration. Unlike traditional adventure games, it’s focused less on inventory management and more on shaping the story through your decisions. Puzzles are simple and designed to support narrat...

This is one of the most beautiful stories ever told through a video game, delivered in such a heartfelt and masterful way that it left me truly speechless. If you want a time machine to the Middle Ages with intrigue, deceit, betrayal, knights, and emotions that overwhelm you — Pillars of the Earth is the journey to take. It felt like I was playing the animated film I had always dreamed of being in. Every character became a part of me. The experience is beyond words. Art style is beautiful, music is even more so, and voice acting is absolutely superb. 10/10 without a doubt.

Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth is a deeply immersive point-and-click adventure that transcends its genre through rich storytelling, layered character development, and a hauntingly atmospheric depiction of medieval life. Adapted from Follett’s monumental historical novel, the game manages to compress its sprawling narrative into a focused yet emotionally expansive experience. Developed by Daedalic Entertainment, it blends traditional adventure mechanics with cinematic storytelling to tell a story that’s equal parts political intrigue, spiritual conflict, and human endurance. Even if you’ve never read the book, the game succeeds in standing on its own, offering a powerful tale that explores ambition, suffering, and hope in a time of great uncertainty. Set in 12th-century England during a period of civil war and religious upheaval, the game follows multiple protagonists—Tom Builder, a mason with dreams of constructing a grand cathedral; Aliena, a noblewoman struggling t...

Over-hyped, incredibly boring and dull. Maybe there's a good story here, but I'd rather get that from the book than sit through this dull experience.

I hardly recommend you to play this game! Artsyle is amazing, its also an adaptation of an historical (medieval) novel but the game actually gives you the capability to change the course of the story. You play as multiple characters through the story, such as a very kind and virtuous monk Philip who tries to understand why world is actually so cruel. Then son of an outlaw, Jack who tires to find a place in the world... and so much more. And all these caracthers have a common point which is the town of Kingsbridge and the tragedy of its cathedral... As i said even tho a point-and-click game i highly recommend this game if you like historical stories
