About This Game

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition is the complete edition of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, a dark and vivid new re-imagining of the Castlevania mythology. It is the end of days and ungodly powers isolate the Earth. The world's alliance with the heavens has been threatened by a dark and malevolent force - the mysterious Lords of Shadow. Across this shattered land, the souls of the dead wander unable to find peace, whilst creatures of evil wreak chaos and death upon the living.

Gabriel Belmont is a member of the Brotherhood of Light, an elite group of holy knights who protect and defend the innocent against the supernatural. His beloved wife was brutally murdered by the evil forces of darkness and her soul trapped for eternity. Neither living nor dead she realizes the horrific truth of what is at stake and guides Gabriel to his destiny and hopefully salvation for the world.

Reverie – DLC
Reverie marks a return to the game’s climactic castle setting as Gabriel seeks to assist the recently-slain vampire Queen’s hand maiden. The download spans three stages, and offers a breath-taking twist to the game’s plot

Resurrection – DLC
Resurrection, which itself follows on from the completed Reverie, lays bare the fate of both Gabriel and the Belmont clan. Gabriel must battle an evil demon known only as ‘The Forgotten One’ that has broken loose of its ancient chains.

These new DLC levels provides a stunning finale to KONAMI’s epic tale of death, betrayal and redemption – with ‘The Forgotten One’ intent on destroying mankind, and only Gabriel standing between it and its goal...

I'm probably gonna be in the minority here, but I tried starting this game over and over again (previously on consoles, then on steam deck, and finally a bit on PC) and I just cannot get into it. Get bored so quickly. I wish Steam would have a third option for reviews - sideways thumb? Thumbs up and down at the same time? Because don't get me wrong - I don't think it's a bad game. And production for its time is solid. I just think compared to other games in the genre it's kind of mid. Did not like how the combat or character feels, too many qte's (I'm so tired of them after many years of gaming), most enemies are boring, some bosses were kind of nice but it wasn't enough. Voice acting, some music and certain cutscenes are probably the best part, but you can find even better in other games. Overall - still very mixed feelings on this one. Heard a lot of good things from different people, but it just isn't for me.

I am a 52 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son found this game at Christmas, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. Loaded into the game world and started playing but I was stuck on what you were supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he helped me. Loved it as it was the best time had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brou...

I feel like saying “this game sucks don't play it” is kinda pointless cuz who’s really playin Lords of Shadow in 2025 aside from my dumbass… That being said, this game sucks don't play it Ah I’m being too harsh it’s not a “bad” game really, it’s just not for me AT ALL. I’d call it the epitome of 360 era slop: complete with way too much climbing (like half the game lol) and stealin og GoW’s formula like crazy while not even being half as fun Aesthetically it irks me the most cuz it’s way more peter Jackson LotR than ANYTHING resembling Ayami Kojima’s vision for the Castlevania series. Tone’s way off too, they got Patrick Steward reading off the edgiest & insanely tryhard lines at the beginning of every level shit was killin me One thing that COULD’VE been a positive is the length of the game. It’s long asf, long for a normal game and ridiculously long for a GoW clone. It’s like longer than if u smushed all 3 GoWs together!! U do so much in this gam...

Holy fucking shit what did I just force myself through here? The only thing ultimate about this edition is the DLC being ultimate garbage. The combat is stiff and not even close to being as smooth as it should be. The game is clunky and rough around the edges. The vampire castle is an incredibly long and boring slog. Most upgrades don't do anything at all. Behind every fucking corner lies a puzzle that is nice in theory, but this games has enough to fill 3 other games with puzzles as well and you would still have too many of them. So Why do I recommend this game now? Because it is fucking amazing This games is bursting with charme, a unique and astonishing art direction, a soundtrack in search of its kind and a protagonist that you can emphasize with. Now, what's funny about the positive points is that none of them are in direct relation to the actual gameplay. While fun and entertaining at first the combat lacks the depth it would have needed for a game such as long as this. After...

I love Castlevania in general--both the classic and Metroidvania style... I even played Lament of Innocence (the first PS2 game), technically the closest thing this game has to a spiritual predecessor. That game at least has some merit in it for hardcore Castlevania fans. This game really doesn't. I tried so, SO hard to get through this game and enjoy it. It just feels so long because of how repetitive it is. I feel like I've played it for a long time and I'm still only like a quarter of the way through. The combat system just isn't interesting enough compared to other similar games. The puzzles also just don't really fit in the game, it feels like it should have just been an outright combat game and really focused on making that fun but it just feels "okay" at that part.
