About the Game

A deadly plague ravages your world. Your last hope: a legendary alien facility dug deep into the Feldspar Mountains...a massive Pit, built by the ancient Suul'ka.

If 'The Pit' really exists, there might be something left. Something that will give your doctors a fighting chance at the cure.

All you know for sure is that every expedition into those mountains has failed to return...

And Nothing Sows Death Like the Suul'ka.

Quamdiu Poteris Superesse?

Sword of the Stars: The Pit is a fun, fast, light-hearted turn-based RPG, where the tradition of Rogue and other old school dungeon-diving games meets the sci-fi Sword of the Stars universe, where the question to ask isn't "Did you make it to the end?" so much as "How far did you make it into The Pit before the monsters got you?"

Be brave, press on for the sake of your planet, and when all else fails, go out in a blaze of glory!

I don't usually play roguelikes but this is excellent, with a great soundtrack. their dlc policy is awful, some of it could've just been a patch, but even the base game offers a ton of content, different classes, items and recipes. now it's bundled with both expansions for 10 bucks, another 4 gets the 4 missing classes. naturally, it saves when you quit, but you can decide to make shorter work of your ascent by only doing every 5th floor, etc. weapon degradation, ammo and food are out to get you, and with more and more ingredients and recipes added over time, you're always managing inventory, but if you're not prepared for rng to screw you over (and over and over), why are you playing roguelikes? (and that's why I normally don't.) and of course if you find all the things overwhelming, don't install the dlc and play the less intimidating vanilla(ish) experience. so I obviously played on easy, and to my surprise, managed to reach the end (floor 30 at the time, before all the dlc starte...

A really fun little gem. Good whether you're new or weathered in the rogue-like genre.

This is a decent rougelike that is fun for a quick game or two. It lacks enough depth to keep my attention but isn't a bad game.

A legitimately good sci-fi roguelike. Takes a while before you can meaningfully interact with the crafting system, but I very much appreciate the resource-management the game is built around. RNG is omnipresent, but so spread out that it doesn't end up feeling like the RNG is to blame for your failure most of the time. Plus, it comes at a bargain price. What's not to like?
