I ended up enjoying it more than I expected. Just like the description says, very easy to see the inspirations in Oddworld and Limbo, given the heavy focus on the environment and the "fast to die/respawn" kind of puzzles. It never felt annoying or too complicated, but the 2D (with 3D elements) perspective and overall brightness does make it a little hard to see the platforms. The mechanical body horror of the world and characters are very well made, gruesome and detailed (especially some of the death scenes). Some imagery and zones are incredible, really add up to the dark and oppressive atmosphere. It's an interesting experience, maybe a bit too short and bizarre, with some bits of jankyness, but it's memorable and intriguing on itself, it's worth playing. Esp: Al final me gustó más de lo que esperaba. Tal y como dice la descripción, es muy fácil ver las inspiraciones en Oddworld y Limbo, dado el fuerte enfoque en el entorno y el tipo de puzles de «morir rápido/respawnear»....

I feel like the game had a good foundation for a compelling world-building, I was almost salivating to get that lore injection, reminds me a bit of Tamashii with its erotic themes, but it never really happened. The world looks interesting, and I want to learn more about it, but there is just so little context to it, and the very little visual storytelling that I got didn't explain much of anything. I am not always a fan of forcing the dialogue into games, but you probably could have at least put a few characters into it just to give you an idea of what I am looking at. At first, I was a little confused by the style of animation, it didn't look great in the trailer, but now that you mention Oddworld as the source of inspiration, it makes more sense, I can see that you almost imitating that feel, kind of like intentionally using old prerendered models, so given the context, it looks better than I initially thought. My personal experience with cinematic platformers is more from the Flash...
My Steam Rating: Very Positive Positives Game feels like a prologue but it is 100% complete Beautiful art design and numerous brutal death animations Doesn't reinvent the wheel of 2D platformers but each level was fun to traverse Negatives There are zero setting options. Home screen you will have choice of Continue, New Game, or Exit $3 sale price for less than 90 minutes of game play. Some levels it is hard to see your character and sometimes the exit platform
Metal ape is bit of a rough one. On one hand you have these amazing surreal visuals and setpieces that are really intrigueing but on the other hand they lack consistency to tell a story. The whole game is a bit of a fever dream but it's hard to make sense of it all. The only place for context is the 4 achievements and their description, not enough to tell a coherent story. This makes the game feel a bit aimless. The gameplay is also quite basic, but most games in this genre are so i cannot hold that against it. What i can hold against it is the mediocre sound design and lack of music for most of the game. It's featured in a select few scenes to make those have more impact but i still would have liked a soundscape or ambience for the rest of the levels as they feel too quiet. I get that this gives off more of an eerie atmosphere but INSIDE for example had stellar sound design and has one of the best atmospheres in gaming. Still though the visuals do a good enough job of setting the to...
