The Executive - Movie Industry Tycoon

Pros: - Okay UI - Nice Sound Effects - Seemingly balanced reviews system - Buy IPs - Lots of Research Options - Nice art style - Unique way of assigning Directors, Actors etc - The Distribution stuff is cool - Lots of options like Sequels, Prequels, Reboots and Spin-offs What Needs Improving: - There is no option for Game Speed, the game currently feels way too fast as I'm 30 minutes in and 10 years have already passed - There is no option for FPS above 60, so if you have a 120hz or 144hz computer, you will have to play at 60fps - The performance of the game is quite bad, it runs at around 30fps with an RTX 2050 - There is no way to view your main stats for a movie after release, you can do Analytics but things such as the Overall Grade for the movie are only able to be seen once - More things need to be explained with tooltips, like what certain expenses are - At first the game is quite confusing - It's unclear what production features you should be using and there is no way to fin...

Fun Consept, Terribly boring Execution. The game is far to easy even on very hard. If you have played Game Dev Tycoon, it's the same but worse somehow. Little to no depth what so ever.

If you’re a cinephile or a fan of tycoon games like me Game Dev Tycoon, The Executive offers a compelling sandbox to explore your inner mogul. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a solid, well-crafted simulation with enough charm and challenge to keep you hooked for hours. Tutorial gaps Some features especially in pre/post-production lack clear guidance, leading to trial-and-error frustration. Visual simplicity The aesthetic is functional but minimal; NPCs lack faces and environments are menu-heavy. Bugs & UI Issues Occasional freezes and display glitches (like money not updating) can disrupt game play. Repetitive loop while engaging, the core game play can feel repetitive over time without major innovation.

I don't think I can recommend this game. It just doesn't have a ton of depth or longevity like the game dev tycoon games it's reminiscent of. The main problem I have is there is just way too much nuance in the selection of all the bits to begin to figure out how to make a succesful and/or award winning movie. And even when you think you've cultivated the perfect blockbuster, carefully curating the right talent and production addons, timed it with the trends, and get a totally mediocre response. Or you get a scandal half way into it and get a bomb. Then you throw together a quick BS picture just to keep your presitge up, put zero effort in, and it either crushes the box office or wins an award. Like I get it, that's kind of how the movie industry can be, but it makes it feel like the game is impossible to actually figure out. You do get to a point where money isn't really an issue so you have lots of opportunities to try out different things and analyze the results.. it just does...

Phenomenal game, very addictive and well worth the price tag. Surprisingly in depth mechanics and movie references too.

I got exactly what I wanted out of this up until a point where I decided that it was a bit too repetitive and paused, after a restart once. I think ultimately, it's worth the money. It would not surprise me if a lot of people get to this point to, but for what it was, I had my fun and moved on.

Very casual, lacking depth and extremely easy. Missing lots of mechanics - if you’re looking for something deeper, Hollywood Animal is the better choice. Still giving it a positive review, since it has potential to grow, but right now it’s nothing more than a simple, casual and super easy game to pick up.

An excellent management sim, the game play is very compelling
