Review: liked the game and concept from start but soon encountered principal flaws. I suggest to buy it at discount in a hope that developers will bring more content but what is more important IMO - re-design (if it is possible) part of the core mehcanics/gameplay process. What I didn't like in the game is unrealistic concept of Air base crew having to gather resources for its base, like they are settlers on uninhabited island/continent. Weekly truck supplies from HQ don't help to remove this feeling of mismatch of the game's premis with its gameplay. Suggestions During WWII air bases, their crew were on a frontline - tip of a spear especially during Battle for Britain, I don't think any of ground or air crew members had to grind resources to survive another day. Pilots were exhausted from routine or by alarm flights and air battles, greaving for lost comrades. And were not able to wake up next morning and start huffing metal, sand or making bricks. The numbe of flights for ea...

About the Game
Welcome to GROUND OF ACES
It is the dawn of World War II, and you take command of a remote military air base.
Prepare for missions, send out pilots and fend off attacks
Engulf yourself in the Second World War and experience its battles from the perspective of your air base crew. It is your responsibility to make sure everybody is physically and mentally prepared to fulfil their duties.
Plan, build and shape your very own air base
Build up and manage a World War II air base. Your personal home for your planes and your crew members. Complete freedom of how you want to build. You will plan and place every wall.
Manage iconic World War II aircraft
Enjoy a variety of accurate fighter airplanes. A joy for aviation aficionados who know the difference between a Hurricane and a Spitfire. But consider: bigger airplanes will need bigger infrastructure. So make sure you can house some of WW2's most impressive airplanes.
Take care of your pilots and crew
Experience personal stories of your air base crew members. On your base every person matters and has their own personality. The game takes huge inspiration of the everyday life of airplane bases in remote locations and how it felt to live there, in good and bad times.
In the style of Franco-Belgian bande dessinée
The game is built from the ground to look like a living and breathing comic book, bringing the style of these timeless art pieces to life. From Bergèse to Hergé, the attention to detail and love for planes of the old masters is what we strive for.

User Reviews
This game is a great idea with a lot of potential and it is wasted on a silly resource gathering mechanic that is done better in hundreds of other games. It is by far the worst aspect of the game. Resources should be about funds and allocation, not making stuff from dirt found on the ground, its an airbase manager during wartime, not Rim World. At the moment, I really don't want to play it. Which is a shame because the concept and art style is so damn good.
I like the concept but the game is quite slow, too easy and boring. It seems there isnt much content either. I dont get all the positive reviews unless Im missing something. And its quite expensive.
Ground of Aces nails the look and the idea — a WW2 airbase builder is such a cool concept. But after the first couple of hours, it just feels… empty. Once you’ve set up the basics, there’s not much left pushing you forward. On top of that, the UI doesn’t really help. You get little icons floating over people but no way to know what they actually mean. Stats and info are super barebones, and I kept expecting more tooltips or mouseover details to explain what’s going on. Instead you’re left guessing. If you’re coming from something like RimWorld (500+ hours here), you’ll probably feel the same: the foundation is solid, but the loop doesn’t have that “just one more day” pull. Right now it’s more of a neat prototype than a game you lose yourself in. Hopefully the devs keep building on it, because the potential is there. But at the moment, it’s style over substance.
So my standard for games is if I get an hour of playtime for each dollar, then it was a good purchase. I've got 38 hours so far in this game and only played the first air field. Good times. Good buy.
I love the concept of the game but it just doesn't work in the current configuration of the game. Way too much time fiddling with random resources that are essential to the "base" and not enough fueling logi or any realistic flight paths for your runways. No reason to care about mission flights, they are just random pop ups and timers that give rewards that can be easily farmed by doing the same clicks, no engagement no strategy. I felt it was too much time wasted getting water and sand to make concrete, I got two nice runways and no change to my gaming experience, same with the aa gun, limited excitement. None of this is a sim to me, I wont refund, but I am disappointed. This could be skinned as any genre, none of this is RAF to me..
It need work. Its buggy, it is unclear and pathing is not great. Maybe it will get better
Unrealistic buggy mess. * takes days to build a simple tent * minuscule starting resources * workbenches repeat orders are buggy and never build * deliveries take weeks in a game that centres around aircraft. Ever hear of air deliveries?
Really fun game I just wish they had designs from other air forces like the RCAF
Its fun until your pilot bug on mission and all plane got stuck (cant move or do anything)
