A bit of a step down for the Cat Quest series. With much more focus on sailing and open water exploration, the game itself was not only shorter than its predecessors but also lacking in both combat, story, and dungeons. The pirate theme and ocean setting was a cute change for the series but took away a lot of mechanics that had become staples of the franchise. The introduction of the rat characters was a nice addition but aside from them being "pi-rats" the pirate aesthetic didn't add much to the story ie there didn't feel like a real reason why the MC was a pirate other than having an excuse to sail on a pirate ship. The combat was simpler but didn't take away from the usual addictiveness of the gameplay and the smaller areas to explore weren't any less fun but the story was shorter than I expected being the third game in the series. The best part was the intertwined storylines of all three games leading into the fourth one. Even the usual fourth wall breaks were missing except for on...

User Reviews
Yep, it's another Cat Quest, which means it's fairly good. This time you have a pirate ship and there's rats. That's about all the innovation they had time for. These games are like RPGs at hyper speed. You attack fast, you dodge fast, you level up fast, your equipment upgrades fast, you blast through the story and side quests and the entire map at light speed. Dungeons can be completed in a few minutes. The game is over in a snap but you had a fun time while it lasted.
Picked it up on a whim whilst not finding anything that stood out to me in the store. Couldn't put it down for 5 hours. Wonderful game.
It’s mostly more of the same so, if you enjoyed the first two, you’ll like this one. They add some depth, qol and new mechanics with each game, and there’s a bit more challenge with this one as well, which is welcome. It’s a cute and fun little romp, especially co-op, that’s more toward the mobile gaming end of the spectrum but not far enough for that to be derogative. It’s just light, which is what you need sometimes.
Beautifully crafted game that ticks all the boxes, doesn't take itself too serious and doesn't chug on your time. An easy recommend, nothing not to like!
GREAT Couch Co-Op game!
This is my 6 year old daughter's and I favorite series to play co-op together. Cant wait for Cat Quest 4.
Fun, addictive, will eat your time!!!
The game is really cute and fun, until you get stuck and can;t progress because of how poorly the game controls with a keyboard and mouse. There are puzzle dungeons where you have to hit five different objects in three different directions with magic in under 2 seconds. Basically impossible on keyboard. Also, the spells often don't cast in the exact direction you're facing. Additionally, the ship is clumsy and hard to control. There are segments where you have to navigate between coral, and it's immensley frustraiting due to how poorly the ships movement is programmed. Play it on controller or don't play it at all.
If you'ved played Cat Quest I and II already, you probably already own this game. If you haven't played any of them, don't worry about it! This is a cute, light, pun-filled ARPG that is absolutely worth your time. If you want a break, and just want a fun, chill game to relax with, give it a shot! There are always more challenges later on in NG+ and Mew Game if it was too easy the first go-around. (Took me 13 hours to beat with all the sidequests and 100%) The Gentlebros put a lot of love into their games, and it really shows!
