had this vn on my eye for a long time and finally got around to playing it, slightly let down to say the least. the art and aesthetics are amazing, but that's about it. the writing and tone are all over the place, the game will throw a your mom joke at you one scene and 10 minutes later we're talking about
your best friend's suicide attempt
. the story itself is nothing to write home about and the game is littered with bad choice endings and some secret ones that further take away from the experience, this game really doesn't take itself seriously enough.

User Reviews
“Do you promise?” q.u.q. is a surreal visual novel with a deceptively simple premise—a girl walks alone in a desert. What could go wrong? Naturally, in classic surreal fashion, things go very wrong… or do they? It’s difficult to make sense of, which is exactly why I love it. The story itself is intentionally chaotic. There are endings galore, with no real narrative difference between one involving death and murder and another where you turn into a shrimp. It’s absurd and wacky, yet manages to remain emotional at the same time. q.u.q. blends mature themes with the beauty of surreal storytelling: the elements that need explanation get it, while the rest is left unconstrained by logic—because, frankly, it doesn’t have to make sense. A tragic, fleshed-out backstory juxtaposed with a duck carrying a sink is a perfect example of the game’s formula: using the ridiculous to enhance both humor and emotional weight. When it comes to the emotional beats, I’m not sure if ...
First it was about milking the bag inside and out, now this.. how come russians come up with this deep philosophical stew on regular basis? Are you even alright there?
another Nikita Kryukov W, nothing to say
For the price, i can't complain. But it felt like there was a lot of context missing, im not sure if this is acutally meant as a MMP
stranger danger...
The soundtrack is good
A game with a quality appropriate for its price. Not a life-changing masterpiece, but not a waste of time either. 100%'d the game fast enough to get a refund I think (with some slight help from a guide because this game has some strange cause-and-effect relationships), but for 2 dollars I wouldn't quite say this game is a rip-off. Should you buy it? If you're into the surrealist aesthetics, definitely. If you're only in it for the writing, definitely not.
I don't know how to explain it but it was the most original and inspired game i played in my life. Eveything is so weird yet so consistent in its style. I FRICKING love the soundtrack and the general artstyle. Everything is so surreal and pretty. I really wish to see more of this universe. It's the kind of game that stay on your mind for a while.
