About This Game

This is the latest work by STEINS;GATE creator Chiyomaru Shikura, in collaboration with returning staff from the Science Adventure Series.

2037. Nakano, Tokyo. Pollon Takaoka and his best friend Cross Yumikawa make a living as a pro hackers wherever they can; wherever hasn't been affected by the "Sad Morning" disaster that occurred February 6th, 2036.

One day, Pollon declares he is going to "elope," despite the fact that he is single. However, he meets a mysterious girl called Momo in a place no one is supposed to be...

Suddenly, mysterious assailants appear and chase after Momo.

During the escape, Pollon receives the "Save & Load" app which allows him to save data and start over just like a video game. Little does he realize this is only the beginning...

The mysterious, genius hacker "Cicada 3301" who organizes a series of "Quests" that seem impossible to solve. The "Gaia Institute" that reactivated the earth simulation which was supposed to be frozen. The thugs from Vatican's "513 Holy Office," working behind the scenes...

Pollon is thrown into numerous plots as a result of his encounter with Momo, and faces a major event that shakes the world.

What truth awaits you when you use hacking, saving, and loading?

Hack the myriad branches of reality and "load" the ending that saves the world!

This is the story of the hackers who will rewrite the future.

About the gameplay
 • ANONYMOUS;CODE is a visual novel where cooperation between you, the Player, and Pollon is the key to success.
 • Advise Pollon on when to Save and Load. Your choices and Pollon's actions determine the outcome of the story.
 • Use the Hacking Trigger, an interactive scenario-branching system. Instead of a conventional story system, the Player uses their own judgment and the Hacking Trigger command to help Pollon decide when to Load and change the future.

Controller Support: Developer's Recommended Configuration
This game has partial controller support, the developer recommends the Gamepad template.

If you are a fan of the sciADV series and have read the other entries, i would recommend that you don't read this. Some people are fine with the big reveal and ending of the game but I hate it. It feels like it diminishes the actions of the characters and the mystery/world-building that the previous games went through. I don't want to give a sciADV game a bad rating, but this is the only game so far that I regret playing. I wished I never went through this at all. If you still do want to play this game, do not pay the full price, 84.99 CAD is a joke of a price when you can get way better games in the sciADV series for cheaper or AAA like BG3.

TL;DR: Not worth the price. Buy on huge sale and only if you've read every earlier major entry in this franchise, and only if you're already a big fan of it. If you're an outsider to this franchise, then starting it here is a very bad idea. Play Chaos;Head NOAH, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes ELITE, Chaos;Child, Steins;Gate 0, in that order and with the Commission of Zero patches installed, and then return here. 1. Conceptually interesting story, but very rushed. For a visual novel which concepts have been teased since the very inception of this franchise, and for a story that was rewritten several times, and for the production values that are far higher than in any earlier entry... It just doesn't hold up to expectations. I feel like 'thinking what Anonymous;Code could have been' is a far more interesting endeavor than 'playing Anonymous;Code'. 2. Vastly overpriced. I mean... what the hell? How does one even justify this price tag? 3. No character r...

If you are like me who has been playing all of the SciADV games, then you probably had high expectations for Anonymous;code. Sadly while playing Anonymous;code, none of my expectations were met. One of the aspects of the series that I love are the characters and how they interact with each other. But in Anonymous;code I couldn't care for a single one. I felt they were all dull and stiff. The game gives no time in going deep into any of the characters so I couldn't tell you a thing about them. The story also didn't interest me as much as the other entries as a big proponent of the story was something I already figured out when playing the other entries. For all the other entries I always praised the soundtrack but for this one I thought it was kinda sucky. The songs sounded very similar to one another with little variety. Unless future entries reference this game, I would not recommend this entry, as the "big" reveal can easily be found playing the other games or a quick google search.

It's very good. I really like the story and how they mention characters from Steins Gate directly. I didn't really enjoy the "saving-loading" gameplay part since the game doesn't even explain that you have to actually press Z on the keyboard to use this gameplay feature for the first time. The time framing to do these triggers is also very short and you sometimes actually have to trigger it in specific moments (or text lines) that seem kind of random. The story is very good though.

Really enjoyed it and really well written. Even if I did want to slap Pollon around several times!
