Love seeing roleplaying games that focus on the storytelling over frantic button-pushing. Don't let the initial simplicity fool you! It's flavored with nuance and the Discord/Slack vibe of the interface started cranking up DMs with enough speed that I had a quick flash of Monday morning work conferences, haha. Fantastic work by a small indie studio-- clearly a labor of love and I loved it! Will be back to finish!

I’ll be honest, a lot of the reviews are from folks with 5-6 hours of play time and one review… seems paid for? But here’s an honest review of the game. Chief Emoji Officer is a satirical game based on a tech company seeking the next big breakthrough, likely in Silicon Valley. The story is funny and entertaining and worth a read. The characters are all a bit crazy and stereotypical but fun, nonetheless. I loved how casual the game was, perfect not to think too hard (pick an emoji!). Where the game got frustrating was figuring out how to get the third promotion early on, since you are supposed to get promoted every other chapter. My first session I played for 45 min and couldn’t figure it out so I put it down and came back a few days later. I tried some different emojis and “cracked the code”, so to speak, and was able to complete the game. After multiple playthroughs, I’ve only got 1.3 hours of play time, so these other reviewers must have left the game open for some ...

Anyone who has worked at a tech startup will find this game equal parts triggering and validating. Even without completing all the emoji unlocks, it's worth the gripping story and grand finale. Recommended!

Chief Emoji Officer is the tech office-themed strategy game you didn't know you needed. It has everything a real office has, conflict! lies! romance! manipulation! All the fun of politicking with MBAs who are as pleasant as they are backstabbing, with none of the risk! Very replayable. At only a few dollars, it's much cheaper than therapy, and potentially as effective. Highly recommend.

EDIT: Since I posted my previous review, the devs have gone back and made it much easier to go through multiple playthroughs. It's still not perfect, but it's definitely pretty good now.

No cause this is so real and so relatable, I feel it so deep. But I kinda attacked by the fact that I was laid off in the game, while in reality I'm jobless as well:/ Do I need to have some career coaching lol. I so love this game, it makes me giggle a lot and it can really matched people you've met in the workplace. I need to tell everyone I know work in corporate about this game now!

Love this little emoji adventure, had a lot of chuckles while playing it. Looking forward to exploring my other options and unlocking the rest of the emojis! Bonus: if you work in tech/games, this will be extra fun for you.
