I really like VR games with innovative control methods and VRosty is definitely one of them! It plays a bit like a VR platformer in the style of Moss, but instead of controling your snowman with the joysticks, you play with it like a string puppet. Those are also knows as Marionettes, so this seems very appropriate for a jump'n'run. At any rate, you stay close to Vrosty most of the time and make him jump by twitching your hand upwards, which is pretty cool. There are also upgrades like snowballs, which you can use to shoot enemies, which feels a bit like a twin-stick shooter. Very interesting. In order to collect all snowflake symbols hidden in the levels, you also have to think outside of the box sometimes, and use your control methods in unusual ways. Later levels are locked until you have gathered enough snowflakes, so you better try your best. Also, as a snowman, VRosty doesn't do too well on surfaces that aren't frozen - for him, even warm sand is lava! So you are responsible for...

NOTE: REVIEW MODIFIED AFTER HOURS OF PLAY. I finished the game, both bad & good ending. It's a platform game with simple but well-made graphics, and a somewhat neutral but likeable protagonist. The control system is particular: to have semi-direct control of the protagonist you have to constantly hold down a button that hooks him to your hand, and to jump you have to move your hand upwards. This system doesn't work perfectly, it's often a source of frustration and appears to be an unnecessary complication, plus the game totally lacks a tutorial. Because of this, what could have been a very enjoyable platform game turns out to be an enjoyable but cumbersome game. If you can get used to the control system, you will appreciate it. My opinion, despite the criticisms, is POSITIVE. A note of merit goes to the ecological message that pervades the game.

I played this game for 55 minutes and it gave me a stroke. It is more frustrating than playing triple A games.
