Are you pushing 50 and feeling nostalgia for those days when you used to play D&D with all your friends? Do you like weird side quests and byzantine rules? Do you really really, really really, like killing Kobolds? Then girl, I have just the game for you!

Love the pixelation and terrible graphics, happy they couldn't make it better. I hate nice graphics in gaming.

I played BG1 (Big Box purchase from Computer City) on a Mac back in 99'. Loved it. A joy to find an updated version of this classic D&D game. Can't recommend it enough. I haven't played BG2 yet, but comments lead me to believe that the charm of BG1 is its endearing quality.

It’s… barely a thumb’s up. The original Baldur’s Gate was great for its time. I had no plans to get the Enhanced Edition. But, the Dragonspear part that came with it during a sale was… alright. A lot of the things that bugged me in the original (Ex: Xan’s modern dialogue of “Whatever” or the tower vendor going “I can’t wait to get out of this Piss-Ant Town.") is dialled to 11 in DS. But there’s value to be had, and it does fill up nicely the gap between BG 1 and 2. There’s a gold reset in DS (that is, before the BG2 gear AND gold reset… sigh)… so that may affect your “Why bother hunting for items?” as it did me. So, if you are an old picky fan, probably a pass. But if you want to see BG1 with a new coat of paint to see what the fuss was about, it’s worth your money… at sale price.

This might be the single most over-rated game of all time. - The world is painfully generic, - The gameplay is a pedantic adaptation of a bad D&D ruleset, - The characters are flat, *Maybe* this game was fun for people in the 90s who had never played a videogame before, but Fallout 1 released before Baldur's Gate 1 and is a better game in every way.

I really want to play this game but the years of brainrot is not letting me enjoy the slow pace and brutal unforgiving combat. I bought the whole set for a dollar or 2 and really havent played even half of the old BG games. If you have the patience for old classics you should at least give it a try. But dont expect much as the they are almost 30 years old
