It's ambitious, and it has a message. I didn't hate my time with it. But for this price tag, the gameplay is too shallow, the experience is too short, and the message about AI is insufficiently developed. If I paid 99 cents for two and a half hours of making the number go bigger, then this would be a thumbs up. But the game costs eight dollars, you can count the number of meaningful upgrades on your hands and toes, and the game doesn't offer any insights or predictions about the current AI situation beyond "AI power usage contributes to global warming" and "Carbon credits are greenwashing." Even in-universe, the game does a poor job of illustrating the effects of climate change. When it's 45 degrees celsius and the game shows me stock footage of trees burning, that visualization is effective once or twice. They show that stock footage dozens of times, and I already know the planet is on fire when it says the world is 90 degrees celsius. Frankly, it feels like the game is incomplete be...

About This Game
What would you sacrifice to see everything?
Welcome to FACEMINER, where Every Face Has Value. Your job? Harvest biometric data, upgrade infrastructure, and expand your data processing empire as hard as Planet Earth can take it.
Set against a backdrop of pre-Y2K techno-optimism, FACEMINER is a narrative-driven incremental management 'click-em-up' that tasks the player with building a planetary-scale biometric processing empire from scratch.
WORKLOAD
Harvest data, manage software upgrades, and expand your hardware as you rapidly scale your plant’s infrastructure. Ensure profits remain high and avoid bankruptcy (or worse) as you navigate oppressive electricity bills, high-maintenance cooling systems, and crooked politically-enforced carbon offsetting schemes.

CORPORATE CULTURE
Mining alone is no fun! Learn more about your fellow miners and keep up to date with the office gossip through the internal corporate messaging system. Sift through messages to unravel the mysteries – and ultimate plans – of the shadowy creators of the FACEMINER software suite.
GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
Climb the corporate ladder and gradually rise through the ranks as you are promoted from manual data-filtering rookie through to the ultimate harvesting automator as you classify and sell facial data at ever-increasing speeds. The world of data brokering is ruthless, and poor prioritisation can lead to costly mistakes down the line. Do you have what it takes to climb the ranks and become the ultimate FACEMINER?
ALL-ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK

Featuring a tour-de-force of original 90s-infused tracks by Madwreck . From house to jungle to ambient, the built-in audio player will keep you locked in the zone while you click your way into A.I. history.
Remember: Every Face Has Value.

So fun game i love incremental games and management sims this is great Anyone who says the tutorial needs more just doesnt get it. I got it. thank u for this game
One of the best incremental games I have ever played. The gameplay itself is pretty repetitive, but the story and aesthetics are what really make the game shine. It is kind of similar to Universal Paperclips, but with more graphics and a few more mechanics. The soundtrack is also phenomenal, and helps build the atmosphere and make the experience more enjoyable.
do you guys think maybe big tech is bad?
This is hands down the strangest and most unsettling game I’ve played this year. Its narrative eerily mirrors the existential dread of our AI-dominated era, tapping into fears that feel all too real. The gameplay itself is engaging and well-crafted, but there’s a persistent sense of doom woven through it that makes the experience feel more like a warning than mere entertainment. It’s fun, but it’s also a bleak reflection of where we might be headed. I couldn’t help but wonder: has Sam Altman played this? If not, someone should send him a copy. PS. WInAmp player is so awesome!
I'm still leaving a positive review to support indie developers, and because the concept is cool. Although, I was expecting some sort of early-AI-development, I ended up with a Severance parody (good) that constantly gives you an ethical rant on global warming, with no way to actually stop polluting. Solar panels are not impactful in the late-game, and even with just generators it's so grindy (4 hours or the same basically). So yeah, looking forward to future similar game, please don't lecture me.
Addictive
for a paperclip maximizing game, storytelling and gameplay could do some work but honestly, i had a fairly fun time pressing buttons and listening to the banger songs. ui work is pretty great as far as aesthetics go. the messages coming in and playing via tts was actually a great move, because god knows i dont wanna stop what im doing to read shit whether it's worth $8 is pretty dependent on how much enjoyment you get out of novelty, but for me it's good nuff
Global warming kinda bad as it turns out.
Dystopian hell to distract you from dystopian hell. The music bangs, the aesthetic is nostalgic, and the story is paced organically
