I bought FBC: Firebreak with genuine excitement. As someone from Iran, I face constant regional restrictions, but I was thrilled to finally support a game I believed in—especially one from Remedy, a studio I’ve admired for years. Unfortunately, the game refuses to work. I’ve been hit with endless errors: 22008, 11011, 11006. No matter what I try, it just won’t connect. And I’m not alone—many players in restricted regions are locked out due to the game’s heavy-handed DRM and unreliable peer-to-peer matchmaking. I’m a huge horde shooter fan. I’ve played Helldivers 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Warhammer: Vermintide, and countless others. Firebreak had the potential to stand proudly among them. But without LAN support or offline options, it’s inaccessible to people like me who genuinely want to play and support it. If this game simply worked, I know many more players—especially in underserved regions—would buy it. But the current system is broken. Remedy, please reconsider ...

About This Game
FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative first-person shooter set within a mysterious federal agency under assault by otherworldly forces. As a years-long siege on the agency’s headquarters reaches its boiling point, only Firebreak— the Bureau’s most versatile unit—has the gear and the guts to plunge into the building’s strangest crises, restore order, contain the chaos, and fight to reclaim control.

Dive into the Federal Bureau of Control’s (FBC) unpredictable and extradimensional headquarters during its darkest—and strangest—hours. As one of the FBC’s fearless first responders, you and your team are on call to confront everything from reality-warping anomalies to otherworldly monsters... no matter the odds. Will you contain the chaos or finally lose control?

Join forces with friends or strangers to tackle each job as a well-oiled crew. Survival in this three-player cooperative FPS hinges on quick thinking and seamless teamwork as you scramble to tame raging paranatural crises across a variety of unexpected locations. Improve your odds by utilizing the tools and skills that make you unique or improvising with whatever’s on hand to support your crew.

Before deploying, select your weapon and customize your Firebreaker’s Crisis Kit with specialized tools, grenades, support items, and paranatural augments... then modify them to suit your strategy and change the way you play. Experiment with different loadouts to perfect your playstyle and synergize with your team, giving you the edge to succeed in every job, no matter the difficulty.

Return to the strange and unexpected world of Control or venture in for the first time in this standalone, multiplayer experience. Discover the iconic and unfathomable headquarters of the FBC — the Oldest House — from an entirely new perspective as a team of volunteer first responders with nothing but gear and guts to bring the Bureau back from the brink.

I kind of like the game, but still, it's mediocre at best. Wild thing is, this game had beta tested. I guess the game director just didn't care... My biggest problems with the game: - No lore expansion - No text or voice chat function - Not enough in-game content - Too easy - Dumb enemy AI
It's not quite there yet as of now, but it isn't fundamentally DOA either This was clearly a low-budget project, retooling what they had made for Control (and a little bit from Alan Wake 2 👀) to have something on the side to maintain until the Max Payne 1/2 remake and Control 2 come out of the oven. Wait and see, a couple of good updates could easily make the difference between this being either a dud or a fantastic blend of BioShock and Left 4 Dead. It's fun after getting better equipment after completing your first couple of jobs.
L4D2 with FBC anomalies + run around and cause havoc in The Oldest House with others? How can this game be dead?
I genuinely enjoy this game - it seems and plays quite simple and that's probably its best side. You just launch it and go right in - no complex mechanics to uncover, no need to read through fandoms and wikis. The only thing that's wrong with this game is its player count. There are 16 people who play this game right now. I don't blame them - there isn't much content to keep them entertained, sadly. But for me, this and new Battlefield are the best things that happened to multiplayer games in 2025. Even though this game may be already dead, I liked you, FBC Firebreak.
Your gear will dictate how you will run your mission. Bringing a super soaker to turn off the furnace will reduce your chance of immolation, but you'll be hand repairing the fans. Bring the jump pack (electricity) and you'll have to keep yourself hosed down, but the machines require less time and effort. Same for fighting enemies. Wet enemies take more damage, shocked enemies can't move, wet enemies that get shocked is crowd control, you get the idea. There's no best, there's always situational. The game is light on maps and missions at the moment, and if you full time this game you will definitely get bored quickly. Revisit later if you'd like, but here's me hoping they'll have more updates down the line. The game doesn't have communication aside from a single ping, which makes communicating nil. How do I let newer players know the water station's tank isn't unlimited? Can't. It'll be reduced to a trickle and it's more effective to use a sink to heal at that point. How about takin...
I bought this game as soon as it came out, was a bit disappointed initially after playing close to 2h but didn't want a refund because I thought it could get better in the future and I have always liked the series. Now, more than a month later after I made my purchase (for 39.99€ mind you) I cannot even get into the main menu. I get the following error: "Server is not available. Try again later" 11008. I know this was a complete flop, but I didn't think it would get to the point where you cannot even play the game. I have 2.7 hours in this game and most of it was playing alone because there were no players to matchmake with, now I cannot even play alone XD. Absolutely do not buy, I am very sad because I was a big fan of the Control and Alan wake series, but this is horrible. I hope the game makes a comeback somehow, but I highly doubt this is fixable
This game DESPERATELY needs a tutorial or some kind of guidance. The game plops you straight into the main menu after the intro cutscene and doesn't explain anything about the weapons, items, mission types, enemies, or even the controls. I was so lost trying to figure out why my character had a gun that shot globs of goop or why there was a shower that you could use or why there were three different objective markers on my map that lead to nothing or what I was even doing on the mission other than "Start the fans and fight waves of copy pasted enemies, dork". I wouldnt even mind the lack of direction if the gameplay was fun, but as it is now its very weightless and not interesting enough to make me want to play more than 20 miutes of this game.
Massive disappointment i was expecting content updates but now that its been nearly two months since release and there's no new content on top of basically being unfinished i cant believe i spent full price on this
Everybody in the comments complains about the lack of tutorial. I thought SURELY they mean there is no played tutorial but there is a text or something at least. No, you are shot straight into the main menu and off you go to the first mission. Expect to die a lot at first, the game explains nothing! Even being a Control/Remedy lore connoiseur, I still managed to die. Some things to know in case you still want it: - Enter all of the safe zones you find, and then DO NOT die, you will drop all of your picked up files. - Water will solve most of your issues, stay together. - After a long 40 minute mission the game might decide to randomly not give you the files you picked up, isnt that wonderful? - There are no matches for the third mission onward, I couldnt find a single one, find a group to play with.
I really like this game but they have not released a single substantial content update since release probably because it didn't land well with players who expected a narrative driven game. There was 9 people on steamcharts for this last time I checked, I would honestly hope they will keep updating this game but at this point I am not certain they will release anything even despite their promises. I cannot recommend you spend 40 bucks on this with a potential shutdown on the horizon. Games have been axed for less.
