About This Game

Description

Emplacement is an innovative and strategic turn-based game that combines elements of tile-laying and combat. The game is played on an isometric board, with each player taking turns to place tiles in an attempt to gain the upper hand over their opponent. The game is similar to chess in that players must think ahead and anticipate their opponent's moves in order to succeed.

As the game progresses, players can use their units to engage in combat with the other player's units. The main objective of the game is to defeat the other player by killing their king. The king is a special unit that is placed on the board at the start of the game, and should be protected by other units. The game is won by the player who successfully kills the other player's king.

Emplacement is a challenging and entertaining game that requires players to think creatively and strategically. The game's isometric perspective and turn-based gameplay add depth and excitement to the experience, making it a must-play for fans of strategy games. The game's simple yet engaging mechanics make it accessible to players of all ages and skill levels, making it an excellent choice for both casual and hardcore gamers alike

This is one of those "meh" reviews. It's cheap, it's an underdog, it works well on linux, even in a multimonitor i3 setup, and I'm the first to review it. Not a game that deserves to be 100% negative, or even 50% negative for sure. It's a decent looking game with an actual novel (or at least underused) idea behind it. That said, the choices the game gives seem very simple and frankly a little boring. The AI in early missions - only missions I've seen - just gives up after building single windmil (eco building) and barracks (production building, but it's hard to imagine needing too many of those, as you can spam at least 6 units per turn from just one and then you have to manage them all). Based on UI and promotional materials I don't think there's any more things to build, but I might be wrong. The rules of the game aren't very intuitive and maybe a simple manual/video or a help screen would be in order. The sounds are pretty annoying too. Wasn't able to play the demo on linux, so ...

Super unique game with a cool core mechanic. The first time you pull off a pincer maneuver to pin their king you feel so smart. I think this game is just a few updates and QoL changes away from being really great. As-is though, it's a solid game (especially for the low price), and I'm interested to try out the multiplayer! Some changes I'd like to see: - rotate tile to allowed position automatically if there is only one position possible at that square - place tile during the end part of the tile rotation animation (basically perform can it be placed check slightly earlier) - move camera to my last camera position at start of my turn, instead of back to my king - opponent units can get hidden behind your buildings - opponent units are always more important so you should be able to see them better - increase the hitbox of the tile buttons, I could only select them by clicking in the very centre - the early levels make the game seem less complex than it really is (feels like the game i...

Amazing, unbalanced, and beautiful. Perfect game to relax with at night. I wouldn’t say the bots are much of a challenge, so maybe find a friend to play with.

Can't believe how engrossed I got in this! What started out as a very simple tactics game presented more challenges gradually, until I was surprised at the intensity. There are some QoL changes I could imagine (one misclick in particular made me waste 5 turns ;_;) but overall I'm excited to see where this one goes, both in the remainder of the game and in future updates and expansions!!

This has been loads of fun so far, for a very cheap price. It's easy to get into, looks great, I really like the floortiles and creating big armies. Great time killer!
