I personally never buy a visual novel because it has Yuri content or any other specific theme for that matter, frankly I don't even read the store page, when I see a game that visually looks different from the standard cookie cutter, that is what usually gets me interested. Slightly unusual look for a romantic game I must admit, especially in contrast to all the anime games out there, it stands out, the character specific panels look very nice, and I like that overexposed feel you have for the shading. BTW, you priced it at $6.66 just so you can complement the occult dialogue :)? It's an early access but the game is relatively long for one path, depending on your speed probably 3.5+ hours, I went for the Bec's choices, I assume Clara can also be romancer based on the locked artwork and choices, but I am not sure, and I am not betraying my love for Bec either way so. There are some horror and psychological elements, maybe 5% of the game, and I am not sure if it's meant to be taken lit...

There’s something off about the world of Devil’s Liminal – and the more I played, the more I wanted to stay lost in it. I've started yesterday and haven't been able to put it down since. It's story is haunting from the very first scene and there's a good balance of trying to uncover what actually is going on, building up the characters you meet along the way, as well as finding out more about Margo's life before the events of the game. I love the contrasting personalities of Bec and Clara – I just wish I could give Margo a big hug. I also want to highlight how much I like the art style and OST, the environments and characters all look amazing and the accompanying score for some of the scenes are really good. I just got to the end of the Early Access version and can't wait to play more!
Beautiful game that masterfully combines teenage life with the supernatural [Eng and Pt-Br review]
I'm always on the lookout for alternative novels; they're something I really enjoy! When I saw the art for this VN, I immediately bought it. I simply loved the pixelated grayscale look and all the dithering! Then I saw it was about horror and gay! A real treat for me; I couldn't ask for more! As for the game, I simply adore it! First, I have to say that the OST has the perfect style: 90s-2000s-style alternative rock, with no vocals and those sweet guitars! The plot is pretty straightforward, basically about a girl saving money while waiting for college classes to start, but something supernatural takes over her life, threatening even the entire town. I thought the game would stick to the same premise the entire time, but everything moves very quickly. The writing is straight to the point, with no fluff. Several things happen, and new problems arise. And all of this seamlessly i...

While I did need to play this game during the day, with the lights on, I did enjoy it so far and am excited to see how it develops further. Big thumbs up to the excellent music

A spooky vibe, a compelling mystery, easy tunes to go with some interesting choices to make. First time for me playing a game in this genre, but I'm glad I did. (Low playtime on account of having already played through the demo version for 8 hours)

Devil's Liminal is a well-paced intriguing visual novel that's a joy to play. Plenty of interesting characters to meet and get to know, and an interesting mystery at the center of it all. Thoughtfully made and definitely worth your time :)

Well-written visual novel story that starts off in the natural and slowly builds into the supernatural. I'm not finished with the existing content so far (as of the initial early access release) but I find myself looking forward to seeing where things go next. The supernatural elements so far have surprised me, and the occasional use of color is very well done. At the same time, spending time with potential love interests provides a nice break when things get too heavy. The story dips into some complex spaces, but content warnings are prominently featured in the settings without giving much away. [disclaimer: I previously playtested an early build of the game with the developer, who is a friend, but purchased the game to play myself]

Devil's Liminal is a hypnotic Visual Novel that understands that true horror lies in the warping of the familiar and finds fertile ground in its suburban Arizona setting - I've never found the sun-baked streets of the American Southwest so ominous and foreboding. The narrative plays out with a dream-logic that leaves you constantly intrigued about the characters and their motivations, and the way scenes can abruptly end or transition to the next day before satisfyingly resolving is intriguingly obscure, always hooking the reader with new questions, hidden motivations, and dark implications. You're left just as unsettled and unsure of what to think as the game's teenage characters as everyone becomes entangled in a lost in a world of demons, ghosts, and dream rituals. If you enjoy psychological horror, or the subtle horror of surreal works like Donnie Darko or Kafka on the Shore, definitely give Devil's Liminial a read.

Devil’s Liminal is a rare kind of visual novel experience—the kind of game that crawls into your brain and stays there. The art style is beautiful (and at times haunting) and I look forward to seeing how scenes continue to expand visually over time. What begins as an intimate, emotional journey... confronting trauma, abuse, and the complications and complexities of human connection... quickly unfolds into something darker and stranger. The game sets itself up to be a clever and engrossing balance of psychological tension, relational intimacy, and a confrontation with unknown forces. This already feels like something special. I can't wait for the next round of updates because I need to see where my choices bring me and there's a LOT that I still need to unpack! PLAY IT! Let it get its claws in you. You’ll be thinking about it long after you step away.
