About This Game

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is a side-scrolling shelter survival game that tasks you with guiding a desperate group of zombie apocalypse survivors to safety. Craft weapons, scavenge resources, balance your group’s needs, and try to get everyone out of danger alive.

Texas, 1980. Walton City is a sprawling, coastal metropolis in the grip of a scorching heatwave and crippling economic crisis. Everything changes when an unstoppable zombie outbreak reaches US shores. Walton City is soon overrun by hordes of the undead, the few remaining survivors cut off from any chance of outside help. Forced to band together, these everyday people must chase their only chance of survival by escaping the city.

 • Gather a group of ordinary people who have been left shaken by the sudden zombie outbreak that has devastated their city.

 • Establish upgradable shelters to house your survivors and protect them from the zombie threat — but remember that no barriers can keep them out forever.

 • Keep moving from refuge to refuge to stay one step ahead of the encroaching zombie hordes. Every night, your barricades will be under their relentless attack. And if they break through, your survivors will pay the price.

 • Balance the physical needs of the group, like Hunger or Exhaustion, as well as psychological needs like Despair. Heal survivors from injuries like Broken Ribs and try to manage traumas like Nightmares.

 • Creep through the remains of Walton City to scavenge precious resources, risking the life of each survivor as they encounter both zombie and human threats. Stealth is key to survival.

 • Choose whether to run from a fight or engage in brutal combat with whatever weapons you can find or craft. Not everyone is a natural fighter, but desperate people will do anything to survive.

 • Convince others to join your group or cut them down and claim their resources as your own.

 • Test your humanity as you make tough decisions on who will live, who will die, and who will be left behind.

 • Inhabit the rich and atmospheric cityscape of Walton City, the once-bustling metropolis now an eerie ruin swarming with zombies.

 • Craft tools, weapons, and shelter upgrades to better equip your survivors for the struggles ahead, or give them a moment of comfort and familiarity in their dangerous new world.

 • Encounter a varying world which makes sure that every playthrough is a new experience.

Well, just let my 124 hours played in the last week be a clear indicator of just how much I enjoy this game. I could go on and on about everything I found awesome, and write up a huge wall of text review, but instead I'll just say that this is one of the most fun games I have played in recent years. I played through 3 times, on various difficulty settings via custom mode, and cleared every PoI completely each time. I need, NEED more content for this game. I'm legit mad right now that I've completed everything. Mad and sad, at the same time. EXCELLENT way to spend $25 as of the time of this review. Buy it now. EDIT - starting up a 4th play through, I can't help myself. EDIT EDIT - finished 4th play through at 180 hours, lasted until March 23rd '81 and still have yet to see the Keyline Storage curveball. I gave up trying, still had plenty of food and wood for barricades, probably could have pushed late summer but Keyline just refused to open up. AMAZING game! Not a complaint at all!...

This idea of game is very good. However, the animation and character control is a big problems.Very very salty in combat or animation, especially I the keyboard control action is conflict to each other( shift + Run same as crawl to the object) Hopefully developer can fix that. Not really fair for them to compare but I was playing This War Of Mine and they did a very smooth action and motivation. When we want to fast, the character can act quickly... Sorry for compare but you guys can learn from that.
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days - A Grim, Gripping Survival Horror

Summary
"Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days" immerses us in a hauntingly beautiful yet brutally unforgiving zombie apocalypse. To be honest, it reminds me a bit of This War of Mine. You – as in we – lead a ragtag group of survivors, scavenging for resources, constructing a safe haven, and desperately striving to stay alive in a world overrun by the undead. The game centres on survival, resource management, and the emotional toll of a desperate situation.
Game Mechanics
Atmospheric Survival: The game excels at creating a tense and immersive atmosphere. Dark, oppressive environments and haunting sound design keep players on edge. Resource Management: Scavenging for supplies is crucial. Players must carefully manage food, ammunition, and other resources to ensure their group's survival. Base Building and Defense: Players establish a safe haven and reinforce it against zombie hordes. Strate...

Very fun and atmospheric except everything is the same, the same loot, same survivors, same place, same starting survivors. It really needs to have some sort of randomisation. The endings are somewhat anti-climatic as the characters are barely spoken too, they fall flat made worse by text endings. But this game is early access so the game will update and I assume all of these issues I personally have annoyance with will be dealt with or change to some degree. Even with this, I still have fun as it provides four game-plays and there is always the run of combining various survivor group combinations. So far solid 8/10

I have completed this game with two different endings, and I must say it is an excellent experience, truly worth the purchase. I would like to offer some suggestions that may further enhance the overall gameplay: • Differentiate characters’ HP levels to reflect the real-life physical differences between men and women. • Introduce stamina consumption when characters cling to or scale walls. • Expand the city and enlarge existing areas to provide greater challenges. Add new locations for exploration, additional escape plans, and extended missions within those plans to lengthen the gameplay experience. • Increase the damage received from enemies, allow item drops from higher-tier zombies, and introduce protective armor crafting. • Include water as a fourth essential need in addition to the current three (food, rest, and mental state). Cooking should also require water from the beginning to maintain realism. • Enable players to add notes or annotations to specific locat...

Shit's awesome. Only thing I'd say is make the characters with two positive traits and one negative at random. Same with the locations found items.
