the game is dog. janky combat, slow movement, no vocal commentary besides some major npc's and voicelines, crashes semi-often, map is huge and theres no sense of direction. heavily recommend it, one of the best games in the series.

Was a little iffy about it at first, but Morrowind has since grown on me, to the point where I might like it a bit more than Skyrim. Love that game too, but it just doesn't hit the same note as Morrowind.
one of the best rpgs ever made. the environments, music, creatures, and storyline is so captivating its impossible to not get lost in it for hours. not to mention the levitate spell which is possibly the best thing thats ever been added in a video game EVER.
i play morrowwind and game start with boat and ugly man. no one talks with voice, just text. i don’t read. game already bad. tried to fight a crab, missed 12 times. crab didn’t miss. combat is dice or math or witchcraft. i have sword but it’s like i'm slapping air. npc say “go to balmora using silt strider.” what is that, a bug bus?? it farted and flew away with me. weirdest uber ever. map is just brown. brown hills, brown sky, brown trees. everything look like oatmeal. inventory is 40 boxes. i put on shoes and they disappear. stole a fork and whole town attacked me. had to start over. jumping feels like moon. i hop around like broken kangaroo. FINAL SCORE: 2 cliffracers out of 100, unplayable unless you're wizard
If you've recently played the oblivion remaster and are looking for another rpg with mechanics far deeper than Skyrim absolutely try morrowind. The beginning of the game can have some learning curve if you go in blind. But if you take some time to learn how the game mechanics work you'll find the game is far easier then you would initially believe and have an absolute blast.
Few games are as titanic as the Elder Scrolls series. Each game in the series has its apologists, and debate rages to this day as to which game is the best of them. Direct comparison is insufficient, given the time between each installment, and the differences in the creative vision and execution of each. Morrowind, for all its primitive presentation and literally arcane mechanics, represents a missing link between the open-ended but player unfriendly 90's RPG, and the slick, action-oriented modern take on the genre. In essence, it is the best and worst of each family. The story of the game is evocative and rich with meaning and interpretation, to an extent that is unmatched by its successors, and to this day the setting, the titular province of Morrowind, is one of the most imaginative and strange in any game. It is easy to say that the game has aged, that Oblivion or Skyrim are at the least more enjoyable to play, but neither ever reaches the feeling of depth and mysteriousness that ...
the lack of guidance is pretty disturbing but i like this game
What a clunky nightmare to go back to. I've never hated playing a game more. It was fine, when that was what I was used to playing. Having controls completely different from what I've become used to with Oblivion is a nightmare for an older player. Every time I try to open my inventory/etc, with the tab key and instead, my POV changes, I throw my hands up in the air in annoyance. Just not gonna do this. It's not fun this time through. Having to rest to restore magicka, and other older "effects" are a total pain in the neck. Screw you guys, I'm NOT going home to Morrowind after all. If this is your first time through on this game, YOU WILL LOVE THIS THING. I promise, if you are okay with VERY early 2000s graphics... The game is RAD. I loved my original version, over 20 years ago. I'd sit on mushrooms and watch the sun set, the world was so beautifully rendered back then. And now it's unplayable for more reasons than I'm going to argue. Whatever. I need to be working, not playing...
If you love to read, don't care about questmarkers, love to make your life a living hell with the gacha-rng combat— then this game is perfect for you. Added bonus if you hate yourself and you want to suffer through the crashing, bugs, and exploration. This is peak Bethesda gaming, and you just can't experience such masterpiece in any other games.
This is the best game I've ever played. There's no nostalgia factor, as I experienced it for the first time this year.
