Persha and the Magic Labyrinth -Arabian Nyaights-

This is a very interesting and very different match 3 type game. The object of the game is to go through all of the floors of all of the towers, collect special cats, defeat bosses, and catch the Rock. What's odd about this game is that you don't have to Match 3 of anything to complete the level, other than Matching Keys to summon the Rock which starts the turn counter to end the level. The level ends when you catch the Rock. You can move your character one square at a time until you reach the Rock square and finish the level. So why match anything? Well, each level has summoned monsters. Some start out ready to go, and others start out as blobs - turn by turn they grow up into a full monster. You can match 3+ monsters to eliminate them. You can explode barrels next to monsters to eliminate them by matching 3 barrels. You can step over monsters to eliminate them. You can match keys to summon the Rock and then move to him to end the level. Sometimes you have to match thing...

Don't let the silly title deceive you... this game is awesome. :)

The game is quite fun and charming but personally I can't recommend a port of a game without Steam Cloud online save support or basic options such as a volume slider or the ability to change resolution. If that doesn't bother you and you like match-3 puzzle games, go ahead and totally buy it (it's on the Switch and PS5 too, where this negatives doesn't exist). Plays very well on Steam deck.

Purrsha and the Myagic Labyrinth -Nyarabian Nyaights-... Okay no I can't do an entire review like that. Regardless, this is an interesting take on Match-3, where you control a character on the playing field. You can still swap any two blocks that make a valid match, but you can always move Persha one tile, so you are never in a situation where you have no valid moves. Of course, you might not WANT to move Persha; since you can never be in a situation with no moves, the lose condition is Persha losing all her health. Once you collect enough keys (by matching them) a timer starts, and you have to move Persha to a specific tile or you also lose. There's a decent amount of strategy to it as you can either move Persha towards the goal tile, or move it towards her by swapping it, removing tiles under it, etc. You need to figure out how to safely move - or how to safely tank hits, since you can have up to 1 shield that will block a hit for you. It's fun, addictive and stupidly cute. I love it~

cute match 3 the second half is exponentially more difficult

A fun little match-3 game with a highly enjoyable content overall. It it crystal clear that the developers loved what they did and put in a lot of effort to make it happen. However, the missions to get cats can be a huge pain as you'll never know which previously unlocked cat you'll need to get cats on the higher levels. And it may just be the RNG, but a big pile of keys can literally zero your changes to finish a mission if Rock arrives way too soon.
