S.Y.W.R. is, for quite a while now, an obsession of mine, especially now with the Directors Cut, that, finally added the much needed feature of cloud saving. After seeing the first trailer, years ago, I couldn't help but compare it to the Blair Witch Project game by Blobber Team, that was released a year before this one. Despite it's shortcomings, the present game managed to capture the eerie vibe that B.W. didn't and, therefore, I consider this one to be the real version of my beloved movie. Absolutely recommended, if you love horror. The history is easy to follow, and the graphics are quite amazing to look at. The game also features a semi open area, and you'll see yourself exploring the woods just to see what's hidden in the dark corners of it. 4/5 - Good I was worried at first because you start out aimlessly walking in the woods and the main character is a bit of a jerk and the voice actor is not great. However after an hour or so it got interesting and the story was very engaging. The first part of the game has quite a bit of non-linear exploration in the beautifully crafted environments, and that was the best part of the game for me. The second part is more linear and story focused, I enjoyed this less but by that point the story kept me going. It did feel padded at the end though. Happy I got the best ending on my first try. My biggest criticism is the overly complicated potion crafting system that has bad button mapping on a controller. It's a cool system in theory, but in practice you're making the same few potions over and over and running out of the same herbs all the time. And one mistake means you start over, sigh. Anyways, despite all that I felt this game was a steal for the price I paid on discount (70% off)....
