About This Game
You can do each puzzle in five different difficulties ranging from surprisingly easy to frustratingly impossible. People who seek a challenge can enjoy this game just as much as those that want to lay back and do some simple jigsaw puzzles.
The game plays in and around a castle in a post-apocalyptic world. A long and brutal war left only a few strong men alive. Each settled down in their own part of the world. Those men quickly became the center point of small functioning societies comprised of the remaining females. A Familiar World tells the story of nine women, how they found each other, and how they eventually managed to flee their cruel reality.
The story element of this game that can be unlocked by completing puzzles works as a Prologue of a visual novel, A Foreign World. The main story will talk about the struggles those nine women face in this new world they flee to. Can you help them?

If you enjoy challenging jigsaws and can put up with or seek out adult content, without minding sometimes clunky interfaces, you may enjoy this. If you enjoy "A foreign world" and want more story or insight in what the characters were up to before they came to the main reality, this might be for you. If you don't like either of those concepts, you may not enjoy this. If you solve enough puzzles in the game, on any difficulty, you can unlock scenes. If you use the main menu and select scenes, you can get an idea of some of the stories that were told and how many puzzles you need to solve. Different people in the other world had different ranks, roles and relationships to each other. Some were more in charge; some were common friendships. Some were very close; some hardly knew each other. These sections read like a kinetic novel. It's all in the past from the main storyline, so you can't choose outcomes, but you can see context for some things that happen afterwards. Why are the charact...
If you like to do jigsaw puzzles and you like A Foreign World then you will like this game. As I am a fan of both those things I really enjoyed doing all the puzzles. It is fun and addictive I honestly had trouble stopping after finishing one. I have spent the last two nights in a row up until 4 am doing puzzles because once I finish one I just want to start another. There is a very satisfying click noise in the game as well when you are putting the pieces together. There are 5 different difficulties for each puzzle so if you are struggling with one difficulty you can back out and select a different one but there aren't any hits or guides or any sort of signal that a piece is in the right place which adds to the game in my opinion. I really enjoyed this game.
Achievements are working. I may be an obstinate square, but this is my favorite puzzle game to revisit for the occasional chill brain challenge. Also I found the story concept of disparate worlds both engaging and thought provoking. I plan to support all future projects from this developer.
A Familiar World has LOTS of puzzles and five difficulty levels. There is a story or scene mode where a story begins to emerge but without it's other half, the game A Forign World, it's a bit disjointed. Still, if you like puzzles it's a win even if all the Steam achievements are broken.
It does add some backstory for A Foreign World which I like. Would be nice if it set up more about relations for the follow on.
This is pretty bad. Graphics are ok, but the UI is terrible - weird choices, no warning when you unlock scenes, etc. The puzzle pieces don't connect properly (no clicking in place) and are just rectangles - I have literally played much better jigsaws in the 90s. No corner pieces, either. Scenes are nice, and I might keep going as to get some lore for their other game.
