About This Game

Introduction

Seed of Pandora is a solo-indie developed RPG in the classic 16 bit pixel art style. Embark on an epic adventure across the continent of Pandora as you meet helpful companions along the way that will become lifelong friends. Discover the many secrets of this fully realized 16 bit world. Beautiful anime cutscenes bring the story to life with gorgeous hand drawn art. With a fast paced turn-based battle system Seed of Pandora feels like a game made in the golden era of RPG's, but with many modern day quality of life improvements and an emphasis on fun gameplay.

The Story

In the Kingdom of Garda, on the southernmost continent of Pandora, there lives the great Gaia Tree, the tree of life. The seeds of the Gaia Tree are said to have given rise to all life in the world.

The Gaia Sect, a group of monks originally tasked with protecting the Gaia Tree, banished to the endless Southern Seas by the first King of Garda. They stood accused of abusing the power they derived from the Gaia Tree's magical seeds.

Over a century has passed since the war against the Gaia Sect. The citizens of Garda enjoy a simple life of relative peace.

This is where our adventure begins...

Sorry folks, this one is a stinker. It starts out fine. But soon you'll find out that you can't upgrade your armor and your weapon can be upgraded from 10 to 11. Meanwhile your enemies go from 100hp to 400hp. It's still quite playable, but now you have to throw out any strategies you've developed so far, because the rules have changed. I mean, I fought my way through several tough foes to get to a chest with one 50hp potion inside. I actually laughed out loud when I saw that. It gets worse from there. I have tens of thousands of skill points with no skills to spend them on. One of the characters has over 100 magic points, but can't use magic. And on and on. Buy it if you like, just know it's nothing like the demo. That was the first trap.

Played and finished the full game, Unfortunately it is overall a let down, unpolished and rushed. Positives

Animated Cutscenes (Mega Man X4 like) with decent voice acting.
Negatives

The Story, starting from mid-game, is rushed. Everything goes from conflict to conclusion in a few minutes. This will be more apparent in the late game.
There is a learning skill system implemented, yet you can only learn like 2-4 skills per character (magic & tech). This is odd as skills are one of easiest thing to implement in a RPG Maker game.
There is a weapon shop but you can only buy one weapon that increases your ATK by 1 only for 3 our of 4 playable characters.
You can not upgrade your armor to improve your defense as there is no armor shop or anything that drops them.
Dungeon design will be mostly the same as the first one minus some puzzles in some so don't expect much.
Combat is repetitive - there is no strategy involve other than defense br...

Chained Echos at Home: I was hoping things would get better after the demo, but they honestly didn't. 1. Nearly 6 hours in, there are barely any equipment upgrades, none if you count the +1 weapons from the ONLY shop on the continent. 2. Quests offer you little to no clues, forcing you to talk to every single npc on the map for many quests, if they offer any advice at all. I had to comb areas blindly tapping the action button hoping to find something noteworthy to interact with. 3. Enemies scale up, while your characters barely advance at all beyond HP. Monsters are swiftly becoming HP sponges. The starting pair haven't learned any new techniques beyond what they gained at around level 7.
