Very cute, very stylish low poly room decorating game! The custom furniture feature is really cool. My only complaint is the lack of an undo button, or a way to return an item to its previous position if you accidentally pick it up. I hope the developer receives enough support for this game that they can add this feature! EDIT: The features I wanted were added! Now I have no complaints! :D

Full disclosure, I p*rated this to try it out, opened it, saw the menu, closed it, deleted the file, opened Steam, bought it, then played it for five hours. Made a mermaid bed. I am chewing on this game. It has given me chunky pastel brainworms. Thank you.

Good game, and overall I enjoy it. I just have a few things that make it a less satisfying experience It's really frustrating that if you're halfway through a room, you can't leave and come back. If I save and then load, the little assistant forgets how far through you are with the requests and you have to start again. If I just flat leave, I have to start again anyway. And to leave a room I've completed, I have to go back to the start menu, why can't I go back to the requests menu? I feel like once you've started a room, there should be the option to reset but it shouldn't be defaulting to clearing when you leave. I know there's save and load but that doesn't save the assistant's progress, just the furniture placements. And I did try to resume by reentering then loading and it still didn't resume the assistant. I put a good hour into the setup of one room and now have to redo the whole thing because I had to leave. Also due to the low poly nature of the game, some things are hard t...

So.... if you are a developer, the name "Kenny" rings a bell, and buying this game should be a no-brainer for you, after all the free assets Kenney has released over they years. They deserve every euro they can get. If you are a casual gamer, who looks for cozyness and likes to decorate stuff - this game is for you. Just let your imagination roll. You have so much freedom, you can build your own furniture, and it's overall just a cozy and lovely experience.

It's a very cute game that is unfortunately very lacking. I haven't even played for an hour and I've completed all requests. They take maybe 30-60 seconds each because you are so hand-held that you don't feel any desire to further renovate/upgrade the space. So if you're considering buying this game for the more structured mode like I did, don't bother. It feels like nothing more than an extended tutorial. And the sandbox mode seems pretty bare as well. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I see lots of my friends with this in their wishlists and want them to be able to make informed decisions.

MakeRoom is a cute low-poly decorating game with a bite-sized campaign, a solid collection of colorful items, and super fiddly controls. I didn't vibe with it at first, but Kenney's latest title ultimately won me over with charming level themes... and also cats.
What's a Kenney?
If you enjoy indie games, then you've bumped into at least one of the 40,000+ high-quality free assets Kenney has released since 2014. On the flip side, if you've ever dabbled in asset creation, you've probably looked into Kenney's Asset Forge. Basically, Kenney is awesome for indie devs.
Gameplay
Freely decorate in a sandbox-style "Create" mode, or "Play" the campaign: 13 themed levels with short lists of objectives. Finishing all levels scores an achievement and takes ~30 minutes of focused play. Controls. There are keyboard shortcuts, but the game can be played using only a mouse: left click to select, scrollwheel to rotate. Technically works with an X-...

Not far in so far, but already not really enjoying it. What I also don't enjoy is being harsh to someone's labour and creativity, but sadly, here we are. The requests seem to be the main idea of the game, but feel more like an afterthought. Now, if you played the Sims, or the glorious Unpacking, or Animal Crossing, or Tiny Glade, or Enshrouded, or any kind of these sort of games, you will notice how limited the selection of furniture is. And it seems to hit you in the face right away. Let me explain: I started with the 'Garage to Home Theatre' request. So far so good. Cleaning it up, finding some nice low-table, big screen, two chairs with foot-rests... but ... where's the remote? There's none? Why? Where's a box that even sort of resembles a subwoofer? There is none? Where's the option to have a beamer and projection screen? No? Okay. DVD boxes? No? Popcorn anyone? Ah well... Picture frames are white, with a paspartout that can't be white, what's up with that? Why not have a few ...

Make Room is a great game to relax with and revisit for some calm down time if you love creating. Not only can you decorate with provided pieces but if you want something different, click the 'Objects' button on the main screen to design your own completely unique piece and share it on Steam Workshop for others to also admire and use. Overview of main screen options:

'Create' - A blank canvas inside a Room, Camper, Garden.
'Open' - Sample diorama's to configure & your subscribed items from Steam Workshop.
'Play' - Some scenario requests which all give an unlocked decor item.
'Objects' - Let creative freedom fly. Design your own completely unique item/diorama.

Inside a diorama
At the bottom of the screen you can change the color and the low poly background behind the diorama with the first two options, and the next two options work to change the lighting inside the diorama and the ambient noise which also change the weather in some cases....

Saw it in the store - love from the first sight, instantly bought and went to test this masterpiece. Controller support is okay (playing on a steam deck), but lack of the sensitivity settings makes it a bit hard to navigate. Could be personal preference issue though

Get creative making your own dioramas using a whole host of settings and objects or create your own custom furniture from scratch.
Settings & Extras
Settings & extras include; resolution & screen mode options, quality options, interface scale, audio controls, language, cursor type, selection appearance, grid and default object sizing.
The Gameplay & Tips
The game has an optional tutorial that is broken down into 10 mini room objectives to complete that get you used to scaling, size, colouring and mechanics. I did find some things were not covered in the tutorial and learned though just by trying everything. Here are some tips from my time trying things out. Tips 🔹 You can change the look of the floor and walls by clicking on them (three icons will pop up). The first is to change the floor size and shape (templates are provided but limited). The second icon is colour and the third icon is finishes (wood, tile, etc). Sadly if you pick a ...
