About the Game

Unrailed 2: Back on Track brings chaotic local and online multiplayer track-building action to the next level – band together with friends to collaborate and build your track across new procedurally generated worlds - WHILST the train is running! So think fast, with more freedom than ever before, and conquer new obstacles in your way - before your trains becomes… a trainwreck!

YOUR JOURNEY GETS BETTER AND BETTER

Every excursion your crew undertakes feels increasingly meaningful, with new rewards and permanent upgrades granting you character with gameplay-modifying abilities, as well as new train engines, wagons and extensions to unlock, giving you the tools to build a multitude of train configurations to play and experiment with. Each locomotive loss is an opportunity to rebuild and get… back on track!

CHOOSE YOUR TRACK

The game offers six biomes in total at the moment. Each biome has it's own unique game mechanics and a boss to beat at the end. On your journey you can find a whole bunch of different kinds of stations to upgrade your train with new wagons or by equipping cartridges to get access to new abilites. And of course there's a bunch of characters and equipment to unlock.

CREATE, SHARE AND PLAY WITH THE COMMUNITY

The all-new Terrain Conductor mode allows you unleash your imagination to create your very own custom maps and share these with the Unrailed community – with highlights being featured by the developers. Or if creating isn’t your thing, browse the limitless creations other players have built, so the frantic fun never ends!

CO-OPERATE TO COMPETE

Fulfill your burning competitive urge – manically duke it out in against another team in the new 8-player Vs Mode. Test your team’s prowess in online leaderboards with action replays and see who can achieve the highest scores.

According to my friends, it's a very relaxing game where you just mindlessly chop woods or mine rocks. I was doing everything else and can't relate at all.

The gameplay loop is overall very fun. Great to play with friends and the co-op aspect is semi challenging and saving new perks is a step up from Unrailed 1. My only critiques are that some wagons are very vague in description as to their mechanisms, such as magnet vs. collector wagon. As you keep unlocking abilities/wagons there's a very clear unbalanced meta: High-level stomp abilities and collector wagon range. The game get very monotonous to play multiples runs, since torpedo, tnt, and mining wagons are all very slow and situational on all levels.

The first game is very raw, but shows promise. This game proves they break those. The AI doesn't work, so no playing by yourself, there are a lot of bugs, and its not balanced at all.

Has great potential! It's a new 'Unrailed' after all. But requires some polishing since as of today it feels wrong: Too many voxels, detail and information on screen. It saturates people and feels unpleasant and chunky and clunky (even the Stone resource model is unnecessarily strange), reason for which players -included myself- tend to be driven off by this one and back to Unrailed 1 as per what feels like the better experience out of the two. I suggest devs to scale it down a little and keep the visual simplicity of the 1st title (it conveyed a more relaxing, adorable, fresh and entertaining sensation to the player) whilst, if anything, adding some whacky wiggly cuteness to it as a testimony for the newest game.

Steam needs to have a blanket ban on anyone that ignores almost half a century of UI/UX and reinvents the wheel, because like in this case it always comes out a kludgy, amateurish, disaster square. The entire menu system of this game sucks so bad, it should be a crime. It's unclear what UX element is highlighted, the mouse is overriden, all the conventions of cuing and prompts thrown out the window, and in a list of *2* things, "right" flipping you back to left is STUPID. IT IS SO AMAZINGLY STUPID, especially when it's unclear if OFF or ON is the currently selected item, you're just wildly toggling MAYBE. It's TRASH. Then there's some crap with Discord? "Join DIscord" does nothing of the sort, and flops up some other incomprehensible UX that vaguely resembles streaming. Yeah, there's a cute and fun rail laying train game hidden under all this garbage. Maybe. But whoever designed the menus must have seen Inkbound and thought, "I can do worse," and wow, they certainly tried.

Few steps back from the first: crashes on startup without internet connection; cluttered, unreadable UIs; a map drowned in uniform colors with pointless outlines everywhere; and most “new” gameplay is just more menus and upgrade trees—added complexity without added fun. Exhausting.
