About the Game
This is your Story
DayZ is a hardcore survival game where players must strive to endure a post-apocalyptic world populated by frenzied infected and other survivors. DayZ includes the original Chernarus terrain, and the Livonia terrain.
Chernarus – The iconic DayZ terrain, set in the post-soviet state of Chernarus and encompassing 230 km2 of hand-crafted environment based on real life locations.
Livonia – The dense 163 km2 map lets players experience the hardcore survival hit in a whole new environment. Players can put their survival skills to the test by venturing into the unfamiliar land of Livonia, and seeing just how long they can last in this deadlier-than-ever world.
Meet Others
Up to 60 players are struggling to survive by any means necessary at any given time. Make friends, kill on sight, build a base, or risk being betrayed over a can of tasty beans. Use VOIP to interact with other players however you see fit. Every encounter is meaningful when your life is always on the line. Be wary. Stay alert. Trust no one.
Survive Chernarus
The infected aren’t the only ones you need to worry about – there’s also the wildlife and elements. Evade packs of wolves and frenzied bears, find shelter from the punishing rain, search for light in the darkness of night. You’ll also need to master complex survival mechanics concerning your hunger, thirst, body temperature, and more.
Loot Up
Always make sure your gear is ready. Patch up damaged clothes, craft improvised items, and head out to deceptively dead cities to scavenge for valuable resources. Fix a car and hide it in your secret base under a cover of well-placed traps. Step into contaminated zones if you dare and keep your eyes peeled for precious loot. Don’t forget that you won’t get far without a full hazard suit and gas mask.
Take your Shot
Intense PvP action can break out anywhere at any time, especially in hotspots like abandoned military bases, where heart-pounding firefights are all the rage. Some survivors want your loot, others are simply hunting for sport. Then there are those who are afraid you’ll shoot first. Learn how to fight and know when the time has come to swallow your pride and flee. One bullet can change absolutely everything. Always watch your back.
Install Mods
Head on over to the Steam Workshop and find a customized server that fits. Join an active community of like-minded players and modify your DayZ experience to suit your taste. Browse thousands of fan-made features, maps, and guns – all of which are easily managed directly from the game launcher.
Enter Livonia
Teeming with wildlife, ruins, and hidden locations, Livonia offers 163 km2 of fields, forests, and mysterious landscape – a unique new experience that will appeal to newcomers and DayZ veterans alike.
Explore the Land
An exciting variety of undiscovered locations awaits the brave and adventurous. Explore murky swamps, abandoned hunting cabins, sawmills and deforested areas, as well as massive quarries containing stashes of leftover explosives.
Follow the bear
Livonia’s food supply is scarce. If you want to survive, you’ll have to learn how to hunt, fish, and forage in the unforgiving wilderness. Luckily, the land appears to be more alive now than it ever was before the apocalypse.
Discover the secret
Venture south and find the hidden entrance that leads to a mysterious underground complex. Make sure you’re with a friend while you look for a way in. And don’t forget to bring some supplies, especially a flashlight. Otherwise you might get lost in the darkened maze of corridors awaiting all who enter.

I'd recommend this game for someone who isn't interested in the end-game dynamics. Dayz is difficult but extremely fun to play. While fun, cheating on official servers is out of control. If you get anywhere near end-game bunker or base raiding, you will encounter a cheater with Chudvision or something similar that will make you hate this game. If they could eliminate the cheaters, this would be my favorite game. The fact that cheaters are so prevalent made my squad find something else to play.
It's a very fun game, but is full of cheaters. If you plan to play on official servers, expect to get killed by cheaters using admin tools. There's literally no way to report the cheaters to the company that made the game either. I've tried. Their forums are read-only. I advise that you spend your money on a company that actually cares about protecting their community. It's a shame because the game is fantastic when the cheaters aren't around.
I would recommend it to people if the game wasnt expensive with the lack of anti cheat. the existing one allows so many cheaters to run around official servers freely. its a rats nest and they are everywhere. i love this game but i only play it on community servers because of that issue and the lack of base building concepts. please address this devs and i'll happily recommend this game to others.
DayZ is an intense, unforgiving survival experience where every decision matters and every encounter could be your last. I love how deep the mechanics are, from managing hunger and sickness to crafting and scavenging gear, it feels raw and real. The stress of being in a firefight, knowing one mistake means losing everything, is both terrifying and thrilling. No other game makes survival feel this personal, or death this meaningful. Now lets talk about the friendships you form often begin with a cautious "friendly?" and a shared can of food, but they can evolve into deep, lasting bonds forged through hardship. Surviving together, weathering storms, battling sickness, and defending each other from raiders stress and trauma creates a trust that’s hard to find in any other game. Over time, those allies become brothers, people you’d risk everything for without hesitation. It’s not just a game about survival, it’s about loyalty born in fire. 10/10 Game by far, will always find my wa...
played this game for 20hrs at the moment and have already died 20 times . Ive found a plate carrier, ak's and shotguns but i lost them all . Been betrayed by two kids the same age who agreed to something in swedish, then killed me and my friend. This game is great if you want to feel betrayed and and left as a newspawn . After dying you wil spend 2hours looting ( probably get camped and die) then head off to a new town...... then die of hunger. Respawn again then find food and gear and set off to a military base and 3000 hours later of walking you will.......die of hunger and thirst again. So you will repeat the process , spent 6 hours looting, gearing, and planning your route , the set off . Then after walking for another 15 generations you will finall see the military base and be rewarded with a gleaming, ledgendary, alll powerful..... snipe to the f**king head from 2 quadrillion metres away and die
SO I have a few hours in the game but it is getting boring after 5 years of it. Its the only game I can quit one day then pick it back up the next. Though I wouldn't recommend it to a solo, but if you have friends to play it with its worth the money I met some of my best friends on the game but I have also had on more than one occasion had whole servers hate my team. It is truly a game that is worth playing. You will want to quit at time and you will be dead broke and wishing you would of stoped playing but you will always get sucked back into it. If you do play and want a good fairly balanced server WormWood is a good server to start as well as Kryptic.
DayZ isn’t a survival game—it’s a psychological experiment disguised as entertainment. It’s not about killing zombies, it’s about killing hope. And somehow, in that hopelessness, it becomes one of the greatest gaming experiences of all time. The first time you spawn in, you’ve got nothing—just rags, thirst, and a dream. No tutorials, no glowing quest markers, no “Press F to Survive.” Just you, the cold, and a can of beans you’ll probably lose to the first guy with a kitchen knife. And yet, that’s the magic: every moment is raw, unscripted storytelling. The tension is unmatched. Every footstep in a ruined city could mean salvation or death. Every stranger you meet is a coin toss between “friendly medic who shares food” and “bandit who makes you strip naked before taking your shoes.” It’s the only game where trust is a gameplay mechanic, and betrayal feels worse than any boss fight could. And the atmosphere? Peak apocalypse energy. The endless forests o...
I would give a positive review if it weren't for the cheaters. Was on an official server earlier and there was a cheater using the admin tools or something with the same abilities. They were using the test explosive option that's builtin to the admin tools spawner. I know this because I play single player on a local server and have admin tools installed. Anyhow, I was trying to run away from the cheater and it was like being carpet bombed. That was the 4th time they killed me today. The first time, I was safely tucked away inside my base where it would be impossible to kill me unless they used a pox grenade, which they didn't. They used a magic bullet cheat or something similar. The next spawn I was running back and got insta-killed by the same cheater. All the players on the server were in the respawn because of this. I asked some of them if they were killed by the cheater and the ones that replied said yes. You'd think that in a game like Dayz, the cheat detection would ha...
it is really not fun when you die. but other than that, it is my favorite game
