Suprisingly fun but stained with typical early 2000s graphics, greenish metallic washed colors and lighting. It's still a Quake game but with some scary stuff unlike DOOM 3 being a step in total different direction. It still has creepiness of other games and cool gunplay. I did not waste my time. Where QUAKE 5 ?

Slow, dark, clunky. Should've been another game, not a Quake 2 sequel

If you want to buy game just to try multiplayer, don't bother, there were only one server with 2 active players on friday evening, european time. You also cannot set the game to ultrawide resolution, even with editing config file. Max possible setting is 1920x1080.

I played this game when I was little, but didn't finish the campaign. I'm 21 now and I fisnished the campaign with great pleasure. Old, but such a beautifult and wonderful game. I recommend it.

When I first played it back in 2005 I was very disappointed. It felt like it was confused on being a contemporary game and a classic one. However 20 years later it makes sense as the perfect middle point between retro shooter and modern shooters. What was a mediocre title then is now retroactively amazing!

This is a 2005 game and you can feel it in every tiny bit 20 years later. First thing first, worth playing? Yes, once and for discounted price, few bucks. Pros: Nice environments and immersive design Allies add some variety (though flawed) Clear progression, easy navigation Short? Cons: Predictable, flat story with wasted potential Stroggification has zero gameplay impact Gunplay a bit weaker than Quake 2, Annoying AI companions with bad pathing Rating: Better than six, but not a seven => 6,5/10. Feels more like Doom than classic Quake Story: No major spoilers, but cmon, it's been a while and obviously, you're going to kick Strogg ass. You are a one man army. Where whole battalions fail (while yelling in pain during the last moments of their digital lives), YOU WILL save the day (sometimes even without a drip of sweat). It's okay, but it's predictable and flat. What I dislike the most is, that there is so much potential killed with lazy writing and I don't know if it was the budg...

As one of the most underrated sequels of all time, Quake 4 gives off an amazing continuation to the Quake II story and bringing an amazing shooter with beautiful visuals, audio, characters, plot, atmosphere, difficulty etc. Despite it being the weakest of the singleplayer Quakes, it is still VERY MUCH WORTH IT if you are looking for a Call of Duty alternative and also a continuation of Quake II. That ending still makes me wonder and shake in my shoes to this day.
