About This Game

Build your survivors a base where they can rest and trade stories between adventures. Farm crops, tame alien beasts, incorporate salvaged technology and fortify your home against hostile intruders

Prevailing in combat will require more than just point-and-click. A detailed hit simulation and health system will mean that even non-lethal hits can render a survivor unable to go on. Suppressive fire might pin an enemy in place, but the ammunition used up may leave you ill-equipped to fight the next encounter effectively

It's a big world out there. To get around you will need better transportation than your legs can provide. One of the things setting Ascent of Ashes apart from other games of this genre is the ability to restore and drive vehicles.

Each survivor has their own unique personality and motivations. As colony leader it is up to you to find and recruit capable survivors to fill gaps in your roster against ever increasing challenges. Can you keep everyone happy, secure and motivated?

You will find yourself in an expansive, procedurally generated world filled with different biomes and points of interest. To survive the post-apocalypse you'll have to brave the pre-collapse ruins and the many dangers that they hold.

It's not enough to just have an in-depth combat system with a variety of mechanics. You also need opponents capable of using those mechanics to challenge you. Enemies will possess varying degrees of intelligence. Taking on a disorganized band of raiders will play very differently from fighting a squad of well-trained Remnant soldiers.

Combining the deep simulation of classic post-apocalyptical survival titles with the tactical challenge of classic real time and turn-based gems, the original creators of RimWorld's heralded Combat Extended mod present a fresh take on the colony sim genre that emphasizes exploration, tight balance and strategic gameplay.

Our team has its roots in mod-making and we've been fortunate to have been part of many great modding communities over the years. That's why with Ascent of Ashes, we want to give something back to those communities. We're building the game's engine from the ground up to be easily extendable, and thanks to our extensive experience in creating mods ourselves we know exactly what kind of support mod-makers need. Ascent of Ashes is a game developed by modders, for modders.

I'm happy to support as long as it's not going to be abandoned or it's a scam from the get go, but truthfully this is more of a proof of concept rather than anything else. Waaaaaaay too early for early access, y'all need to push and update the game regularly and as quickly as possible

I bought into Rimworld way back before it's steam release, when the only way to get guns was to loot them off of dead raiders. I am once again buying into a passion project, because I think this can become something good, that being said... This game lacks QoL elements like a stockpile that be easily referenced (if it exists as of 8/9/25 I haven't found it), popups for when colonists die or leave, and just general alerts when my colonists take a magnum round to the head.

Because it's a $15 game that has a lot of potential, I'm not going to refund it as a show of good faith in hopes the devs continue with this....project. To launch a management game without being able to see how many of which resource you have in total is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen in gaming and I've been on the internet since Ultima Online. Srsly, wtf?

I don't usually review games but this one I had to especially seeing how many negative reviews it is getting. I absolutely love rimworld only game I get to play with my busy schedule with wife and kids. I tried playing it vanilla and it was terrible until I started to discover the huge modding support it had. I stumbled across the Combat Extended mod and I only play rimworld with it. That mod made RW complete for me... When I heard that the developers of that mod is doing their own game based off rimworld I absolutely had to show my support. The entertained me for 500+ hours in rimworld with their mod so it's a no brainer for me and anyone else that love CE and RW... AOA Is very very early access but even in this state I can see the huge potential it has. I mean I see the "PAWNS" climbing down ledges of roofs etc which shows they have full integration with all 3 levels on the Z axis. I hope they implement the ability to break and climb through windows. I never was ok with the notion ...

Very crude, very janky game lacking much of the qol even vanilla rimworld has.. BUT its also very promising game with features that Rimworld doesnt have - ammo, z levels, fog of war. And of course its a very important game because it finally lights a fire under Tynan ass and provides a nice competitor for increasingly lazy and bloated Rimworld. Keep it up boys, i believe in you.

AT this time try to avoid. There is a game breaking bug that happens without warning. At some point when you save your game and some unknown bug occurs it breaks ALL SAVES. so you could spend 8 hours playing and lose it all without notice or spend 2 hours or even 20 hours who knows but clearly the devs dont
