(Note recorded playtime for 1 route is not realistic. I am one of those people that leaves a game running whilst doing other things.) Like the other review said. Take the trigger warnings seriously! One of the scenes I found extremely uncomfortable. It was well written though, and not gratuitous in its approach (So it didn't feel like a shock factor just for the sake of it.). Strangely enough, I am giving this Visual Novel a thumbs up despite it not being exactly one for me. Because at the end of the day the worst kind of story is one that leaves you feeling apathetic, and True Colours certainly did not leave me feeling like that. I often felt uncomfortable, challenged, and some of the moments in the route I chose (Ash) to pursue were really adorably sweet. I will probably give another route a go in a few weeks as the first one was a roller-coaster, and I don't think I have it in me to just bounce onto another one. To quickly summarise: . Good prose . The individual route was perhap...

About This Game

True Colours is a romance/horror visual novel - a cute innocent dating sim with a dark twist!
WARNING: THIS GAME CONTAINS DEPICTIONS OF HORROR, THREAT, VIOLENCE, GORE, DEATH AND MENTAL HEALTH STRUGGLES/ILLNESS. GAMERS WITH SENSITIVE DISPOSITIONS MAY FIND CERTAIN SCENES DISTURBING.
Tired of the same old daily routine? Our protagonist knows that feel all too well. Working a boring office job and living alone, life is starting to feel like a merry-go-round that's had a few too many spins... until today!
When three new hires join the team, a sudden burst of excitement arrives! They're cute (oh no, he's hot!), they're single (it helps) and they're ready for romance! But little do they know that there’s another face behind that friendly façade of yours…
…and it ain’t pretty.
This shocking, crazy tale puts YOU in the villain’s shoes. Date your way into gaining your partner’s trust, then unleash your true motives. There’s deception. There’s terror. There’s death… but there’s also a chance for redemption.
Can you face up to your inner demons and leave this path of destruction behind once and for all? Will you change your ways and prove yourself to be worthy of their love, or will this horrifying game just keep on looping forever? Can you forgive yourself once you see your… True Colours?

This cute (yet traumatic) little game features:
- A gender neutral protagonist with a customisable name and androgynous appearance, for maximum self-insertability!
- Three possible love interests, representing various orientations and genders - one female, one male and one non-binary!
- A branching storyline where your choices matter, with 12 possible endings to find!
- Cute puppies~
- Big fuzzy uwu dating moments ^_^
- THE POSSIBILITY OF UNLOCKING HORRIFYING TRUTHS THAT CHANGE THE WAY YOU PERCEIVE SOMEONE FOREVER-
- Uh... did I mention cute puppies? Ehehe~!

Let's meet the dateable cuties and supporting characters that await you!

With a customisable name and an androgynous appearance, our protagonist is perfect for you to project yourself into! Introspective and something of a game and movie buff, they're known for being a bit a loner. However, they're secretly wishing to find love - so much so, in fact, that they’d do anything to make it happen…

Brianna is almost obsessively professional in the workplace, but beneath that corporate exterior, she's bubbly, vibrant and fun to be around. Her pretty smile and generous heart are super attractive.

The coolest guy around, Malik oozes chill. He's funny, laid-back and cute to boot (look at those freckles!). If you can keep up with this sports lover on the track, then you might just get rewarded.

Quiet and a little shy, Ash is a non-binary beauty that deserves the world. They might seem antisocial at first, but once that guarded shell begins to crack, you'll discover all sorts of surprising qualities!

Plus a ragtag bunch of office buddies to giggle around the water cooler with!

beware of the warnings, there are definitely some fucked up things going on. this is an absolutely fantastic game though, i binged my way to a good end on day one. it seems to be roughly ten hours of content if you go for all of the routes. the nonbinary representation feels authentic and enjoyable. wholesome at times and extremely good. i would solidly recommend the game if you like romance with a little bit of craziness.
Well this game is well-designed, great character art, all art is good, music is impactful, voice acting is partial but sets the tone. I got scared out of my mind and confused but that is what a good psychological romance game is about - just hoping that after Ash's route the other two routes can compare to this. I feel like I played the best and scariest/most meaningful route first and I am hoping the other two are just as good! Great buy! Don't play in the middle of the night and don't imitate any of this story because it's horror not that you didn't know that.
Disclaimer: This review contains heavy spoilers for the game. Do not read if you want to keep the plot a surprise. Intro: I first played this wonderful and original visual novel back when it was first released. Due to personal reasons, I waited until now to review it. I feel that now is the right time to write about how this masterpiece that explores marginalized groups and how a terrible person can redeem themselves affected me and what I loved about it. And don’t worry, this won’t be nearly as long as my previous Venus: Improbable Dream review! So, now let’s get into my overall thoughts and conclude after that. Overall Thoughts: What I think that True Colours excels at compared to most other games like it is how masterfully its characters’ struggles and themes are intertwined and complete each other so well. Each of the three routes and their corresponding characters have their own struggles that the protagonist has to work with in order to redeem themself and rekindle th...
The background music to the game really adds to the immersion, the characters have so much life to them that you feel invested in getting to know them all. knowing theres different endings as well gives the game massive amount of replay value. Truly a remarkable journey and i will definitely be replaying to witness the other ending. 100% would recommend this lovely game to anyone.
I've been looking forward to this game since the Demo came out. I'm new to Visual Novel / Dating sims and was positively surprised on how fun it was. Theres alot of self reflecting happening and the games writing is well done. It makes you second guess yourself and once you get to a certain point in the game, you will eventually be sucker punched. Very well made. I have played through 1 Route so far and it took me 9 Hours to complete (Not counting all possible endings) If that is any suggestion on how long the game overall will be, take this times 3. Its absolutely worth giving this game a shot, I had a blast!
