About the Game

New Cycle is a city building game with focus on survival. After an apocalyptic series of solar flares, human society has been thrown into disarray. Establish a settlement and develop it all the way from humble beginnings to industrial metropolis.

Build and expand your settlement using free form or grid-based design. Seek, gather and produce new resources to advance your civilization. As you develop it further, you will re-discover the more advanced and complex ways of the past to produce goods on a large scale.

This hostile world will challenge you with sand storms, shortages, wildfires and other natural disasters. Be prepared and always ready to act quickly. But nature isn’t the only thing to worry about: Refugee crises, unrest, disease outbreaks – the list of challenges is long. You will have to make crucial decisions, many of them painful, to avert the downfall of your civilization.

Take care of your people’s basic needs. Distribute food, water, tools and clothes and regulate their daily work schedule. Enrich their life with entertainment, prevent diseases and improve your people’s health by providing medical facilities. With every new member of your community you get closer to re-discovering the forgotten technologies of the old world.

As your settlement develops into an industrial city, running on fuel and burning coal, a whole new level of productivity opens up to you. Mass-production, automation, factories feeding factories via complex systems of conveyor belts. Modernize your workforce by training your people in these specialized tasks.

Each era has the potential to improve your production as well as the lives of your people, giving you access to numerous new buildings. As your settlement develops into an industrial city, running on fuel and burning coal, a whole new level of productivity opens up to you.

Explore your surroundings to find places of interest and untapped resources. Build outposts to make them accessible to your people and establish a train network to transport them.

The year is 2073. After an apocalyptic series of devastating solar flares, human society has been thrown into disarray. With the technological advancements of the past almost completely lost, the remnants of humanity now struggle to survive. But, even in this desperate world, one thing remains true: As one era ends, another era begins. It is time for a new cycle.

Establish a settlement and develop it all the way from humble beginnings to industrial metropolis. Ensure the survival of your people against all odds. Remember: There is always hope. And our greatest achievement is yet to come…

New Cycle – There must be a future beyond survival.

I was holding off reviewing until I knew if the game was even going to make it to 1.0. Currently 13 months and zero updates to the main branch. Back in March 2025 they did make update to the experimental branch. No communication since then. I would honestly hold off on this game until full release, if it even makes it there. If you pay attention to some of the recent reviews, similar formats, different words, but same key points on each. The game play is fun, but it most likely will not be finished. Do not be fooled by the "recent rush" of positive reviews. It is easy for a developer to give some keys out in turn for positive reviews, or even possible bots. Response to developer: Thank you for the information. However I think this information would be more helpful to many if you made a proper announcement on Steam. I do not think your response here will make anyone dismiss the fact you have remained silent and no updates have come in a long time.

It's not a bad game. It's not great at explaining game mechanics, and the ending seems very abrupt. It hurts the replay-ability of it. I feel like now that I have knowledge of the game mechanics, I could probably do better the second time, but I have zero desire to start from scratch. It'd make way more sense if (**mild spoilers**) they developed some way to continue at the end with a population that is determined by how big you built out the bunker. 16 hours to finish it, and it's frustrating because the early ending means that you have almost no time to explore the advanced building systems like the conveyor system. I have the feeling that the development team plays the game so much that they have tuned the length of the game for someone that really knows the game. Good potential, but still needs work. Otherwise, it's an interesting game.

Jumping into New Cycle on normal difficulty feels both familiar and different if you have played other survival city-builders. The setup is classic, with humanity clawing back from collapse and you taking responsibility for organizing the first sparks of civilization, where every decision matters. The opening focuses on survival by securing food, wood, and housing while constantly juggling limited workers between gathering and construction. On normal mode, the difficulty feels fair because mistakes such as expanding housing too quickly before stabilizing food supplies are noticeable but not devastating. The atmosphere stands out as one of the strongest elements. The bleak post-apocalyptic setting and detailed visuals make it rewarding to watch a small camp slowly grow into a functioning village. Some mechanics feel unclear at first, and the resource loop can become repetitive as you shift workers around to keep production moving. Unexpected events also keep things interesting, like ...

Worthy newcomer in the building/colony sim genre! This game reminds me of two classics in said genre - Frostpunk and Anno, and I think this game doing a good work combining mechanics from both of them. The start is smooth and surprisingly, not overwhelming, considering amount of resources available, but they introduced and used gradually, without creating a situations when bunch of them being dropped into your attention zone in the same time. The game is also not without challenge, the further you develop - the more interconected resources and buildings become, and don`t forget that you need not to forget to manage constantly growing needs of your setlers (if you want said buildings to work of course :)) I`m sure devs can make this game even more exciting in the future updates, and with that in mind, maybe in 10 years we will treat this game as one of those classics in genre, and rightfully so

Had trouble sleeping. Insomnia hit. Decided to try a new game. Homescreen OST start playing in the background. getting sleepy. Laying down. Actually fall asleep. 9/10 would play this again just for the OST. NB: Seems like the game hasn't been updated for over 13 months. Will this be updated anytime soon? Hope it won't crash the old game. (When I start)

This game is not for the faint of heart. It is a punishing, deeply challenging survival builder that will test your patience and resolve. If you're looking for a gentle, hand-holding experience, this isn't it. But if you're a fan of games like Frostpunk or Rimworld and crave a truly brutal, unforgiving challenge, then you've found your next obsession. The core gameplay loop is incredibly tough. You are thrown into an apocalyptic world with very little guidance, and the early game is a constant struggle. The first few cycles are a desperate scramble for resources, and you will fail. A lot. But every failure is a lesson. And when you finally manage to survive and thrive, the sense of accomplishment is unlike anything else. The game's music and art style are fantastic and perfectly capture the bleak atmosphere. However, the background music can become repetitive, and the menu audio cues are sometimes inconsistent, which can break the immersion. Final Verdict: This game is a raw, compe...

I found New Cycle to be a deep and engaging city builder with survival mechanics and a polished visual style, the buildings look great, and the seasons and natural disasters are very well done and not only adds to the visuals but also impacts on the gameplay mechanics. It has a lot of layers and interesting things to do, blending city builder with survival mechanics, however there are some areas that need improvement At first, I found the UI overwhelming and the controls a bit confusing, but the tutorial helps a lot and makes it easier to understand the core systems. Once you get into it, the game becomes really enjoyable. My main issue is the pacing,it moves too fast between cycles, and there's often too much happening at once. Also, the population system feels unbalanced, with low birth rates and limited ways to recover when workers die. That said, the game has great potential. It’s already fun for fans of complex city builders and I’m looking forward to seeing how it evolves...

When playing New Cycle in campaign easy mode, the game feels much more relaxed and forgiving. Resources are easier to manage, people stay healthier, and disasters are less punishing, which gives you time to focus on building and exploring instead of constantly putting out fires. It feels more like a calm city-builder than a survival challenge, and I even managed to survive four in-game years without losing anyone, with the only deaths coming from old age rather than sickness or disaster. The only drawback is the camera movement, which feels a bit locked since you can’t rotate it with a simple right click like in most city-building games, making navigation feel clunky at times. Overall it is enjoyable in this mode, but the game still has room to improve, especially in controls and adding more meaningful depth to keep players engaged longer.
