Don't Starve is at this point a classic surreal survival game. And it is a SURVIVAL centric game. While games like Terraria are focused on adventure and exploration and Minecraft has light survival elements, Don't Starve really puts the emphasis on STAYING ALIVE FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN. Several mechanics, a bunch of them hidden forcing you to experiment yourself, encourage bravery and figuring things out. With permanent death and losing all your progress on death seems punitive, but with a bit of frustration tolerance, you'll quickly realize that the actual mastery in don't starve is not based on how pretty you make your one base the time it worked, but how well can you master the environment around you. Personally, I lean towards game with a bigger narrative emphasis than Don't Starve, but honestly? I can't commend it enough. Figuring things out is quite fun and whenever you have some free time, playing a bit is super fun. Personally, I don't like using the wiki because I f...

This game really sucks, it's just kind of backwards and inconsitently confusing. You wander around and you'll die, you stay still you'll die. The basic items for your character could spawn right next to you or 3 miles away and soft lock your progress for 2 weeks. It's random in all the wrong ways. It's keen on pushing you to explore the world but then punishes you for doing so, you have a tiny hunger bar and very few ways to respawn or regain health. Even eating only gives you 1-5 health, the later game foods at least the ones I've tried give you zero health at all. Despite the massive amount of effort put into them. It wants you to explore but every ten minutes the lights shut off and you're forced to either a slow crawl with nearly no light or a complete stand still. Pretty much any plan or strategy you make is pointless because the items you need for it could be fiften miles away or spawn right next to you. Travel is dreadfully slow even with worm holes (random chance to go ...
favourite game. im not too big a fan of survival or base building games, and i think its because in most other games the survival compliments the base building, where i feel its the reverse in dont starve. the art, characters and the world are a huge part of the appeal; how they speak in musical instuments, the roguelike-ness of starting anew when you die,
though you can easily revive indefinitely if you get enough beard hair. Which is why Wilson is the best character, with no downsides.
All the characters are fun to play. Some change the gameplay barely at all while others change how you interact with the world and its creatures. the dlc are super. I'm just about getting the hang of long term surviving in shipwrecked and I still cant reliably survive past day 20~ in hamlet. cant wait to make a huge mega world of all three, the way the dlc are activated was confusing to me at the start, like i thought you could only activate one dlc at a time, but if you activate...
Why the actual f* is multiplayer a separate game? You greedy A* holes... scammed me lol!
Already done like 7 attempts and feel like im just straight up bad, i understand what im supposed to do, yet i feel like im not getting any progress whatsoever, ik this is a game about dying and learning from your previous mistakes, but imma be real, that's the part that makes me drop this game completely. The first time like 2 years ago i played this, i was like (this game is gonna be a cake walk) tbh i should've just stfu instead saying stupid s-it like that. I might just sound like a whiny b-tch, but i really tried to enjoy this game, but i can't. Only recommending becuz i like the game, but can't enjoy it when playing myself, instead would like to watch someone else, i just have s-itty patients, anyway play it if u like being stressed out a s-it ton lel.
one of the best survival games I've seen, it beats any I've played. The DLCS give more content, even without it don't starve has good content that i repeat a lot. I recommend to anyone who likes survival games.
just get dst i made a huge mistake because i wanted webster :( good game tho but dst better
Little progress since the times it was a mere mod.. a whole trash heap of mtx though.
i was starving while playing this game AND I DID STARVE to the noobies out there dont starve when playing this game eat food
A real survival game that does not hold your hand. Anything and everything will kill you. Reminds me of Terraria's moto touch it and die. Definitely a hard game to start playing but it becomes satisfying to play once you get the basics and don't die in the single digit days.
