About the Game

Xmas Apocalypse is a festive horde-survival third-person shooter with roguelite meta-progression.

It's Christmas Eve during the Zombie Apocalypse and Santa's sleigh crashed over the zombie infested lands. Hordes of undead and other depraved creatures crawl out of the icy grounds to get a piece of Saint Nick. Can you survive until Christmas Day or is Christmas ruined forever?

Pick from a deck of upgrades to increase you firepower and add other effects to your gun. For example, equip your shotgun with the ability to shoot multiple projectiles that have the chance to burn your targets. Or Electrocute them. Each run you earn coins to unlock more upgrades to choose from and find the most destructive combinations.

Features

  • Face hordes of zombies and other gigantic creatures that pose deadly challenges.
  • Unlock new skills and permanent stat boost on the Christmas skill tree.
  • Level up your skills each run via a deck-based upgrade system and explore the most destructive combinations.
  • Unlock new weapons and characters with different abilities and starter skills.
  • Open presents with helpful items that may save your life.
  • Tense quick 10-20 minute play sessions, for gamers during Christmas stress

Increasing every upgrade's price every time you buy any upgrade and NOT providing a reset button for purchased upgrades puts you on the naughty list. If that annoys you less than me, may still be worth it in its current state. Will switch to thumbs up once the festive upgrade tree can be redecorated at will. Zombies spawning behind you w/3rd person over-the shoulder view is also a major problem, but that feels more like an intentional situational awareness check than an unpleasant grind mechanic, so I'll allow it. ETA: Turns out that this also suffers from the common action roguelike problem of it getting harder to get a good build once you've unlocked some weaker cards. This is yet another problem that could be alleviated by letting us reset the upgrade tree...

Do you like zombies ? Cool. Do you like christmas ? Perfect. This game bring both in a TPS shooter, with a christmas (skill) tree, and a lot of perks ! Every time you think you begin to master it, you get a new event increasing difficulty. Nice game :) + It's steam deck compatible !

Naughty or nice doesn't matter when you're a zombie. Santa's going to town tonight! Really like the game. Fun vibes, shooting, looting, upgrading and unlocking new skills. Each run has in-game progression: kill zombies, collect gems, and choose skill cards that'll upgrade various shooting mechanics. Each run awards coins which you then can spend on the skill tree to perma-unlock new skills and stat-upgrades for further runs. The upgrades and unlockable skills are really fun and complement each other pretty well. For example, base fire rate for the shotgun is pretty low, well, it's a shotgun. So upgrading fire rate in early runs makes sense. Earn coins and buy permanent fire rate stat upgrades on the meta skill tree to free up an in-game skill slot during the runs and use different skills. Or for example the nailgun has low damage at distance but fast fire rate. Unlock the Light Chain or Burning Wreath skill on the tree and suddenly you have amazing stopping power and real crowd-cont...

As it stands? No. No adjustable difficulty and unwieldy camera.

10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a holiday hullabaloo! This game is amazing. There's a distinct lack of good holiday games and this game 100% scratches that itch! I absolutely cannot wait for more content to be released since I couldn't put it down until I finished the available Christmas Skill Tree. Smooth shooting mechanics, rewarding upgrades, variety that actually makes you think about synergies. This game is going straight onto my favorites list. Hats off to you Gypynkt. Thank you for making this game.

Okay, I bought this last year as I play a lot of rogue-likes, and it seemed like a fun simple game that would be fun to stream... and well, there's not many decent XMAS themed games outside of hidden object games. We enjoyed it, but it had some issue with running poorly, and a few gameplay bugs leading to having to restart the game a few times. A year later, and an update promised to solve these issues, so I decided to fire it up again... and it's perfect! :D Not only does it run smoothly, there's a bunch of weapon additions, new enemies, everything feels that teeny bit more balanced... it's great. Great in short bursts and that "one more go" feeling. Even when you get swamped by enemies... you buy a couple of upgrades, and see where the next run takes you. Now, if you're wanting a fun rogue-like, with a xmassy theme, some great short-burst addictive FPS action... you can't go wrong with this one.... now shush, I'm off to have another run at it. :P

About time someone took the bullet heaven formula and made it into a competent third person shooter. Xmas Apocalypse is the game to finally pull it off, offering a bite-sized Christmas-themed romp where the increasingly high intensity of the firepower of the weaponry feels mighty satisfying to use, even against uninspired hordes of zombies (couldn't it have been elves?). The gameplay itself isn't all that varied, and I've found a handful of perks and weapons that absolutely dominate compared to others, but there's a large skill (Christmas) tree to conquer, and the complete change in perspective makes this one of the more unique bullet heaven shooters out there. The game doesn't see the keyboard, nor a controller. What about the mouse, it works, but only Left/Right clicks, cos moving the camera using a mouse doesn't work either. Refund

Was looking for random games on steam, saw this absolute master piece at 4 dollars and lose my shit laughing everytime i see a hoard of hogs ram into zombies whilst Santa delivers the greatest written one liners of the decade. Truly a 10/10 experience.

A quick review. First off, how high were you on eggnog when you conceived this? Whatever kind of eggnog you're drinking, I want some. There's not much to talk about, although the hour I spent playing only felt about three minutes, take that as you will. Visuals, although low quality, are charming and they suit the game. Cel-shading isn't utilized enough in games. When used properly becomes timeless. Shotgun is punchy, has good visual feedback, and is fun to use. Despite its simplicity, there is a quite literal level tree that is still better than 99% of AAA-level lvl trees. I do think you should have a slight increase in the range of picking up gems. In a fast pace shooter, it's ridiculous to precision point a minute gem. The price-to-content ratio feels appropriate & when he finishes the development. I think a slight price increase would be fine. With this game still in active development, I would like to see two characters added & that's Jesus (you've been endorsed by a Cathol...
