Damn this game is pretty. Every bit of UI, every unit is a Real Artwork. The Gameplay is fun as well, though I'm not sure what to think of the fact that they replaced everything piece of UI with playing cards, even the Retreat button is a Card that you have to play... That's a minor gripe though! I would like more games made with this much love please :)

User Reviews
As said in many other reviews, this game offers a similar experience to Heroes of Might and Magic. So if you enjoy that type of game, this one is probably for you, as it has a unique art style for this genre, a nice soundtrack, an interesting story and 4 different factions that all offer pretty unique playstyles (more so than what I am used to from HoMM). And while there might be some things to complain about, like too much content being locked behind unlocks through playing, a confusing interface or occasional crashes, I can confidently recommend this game because I bought it almost instantly when it was first released as an Alpha and followed the game's progress since then. The developers listen to community feedback and address weak points in the game, which makes it so that many things that are being complained about in the reviews are likely to have already been fixed by the time you get the game.
I really love turn-based strategy in general, so I thought this would be a good match, but it really doesn't feel like TBS. Movement is clunky and annoying, combat is boring and the animations can't be appreciated because it's just tiny little units mashed together doing generic combat (and completely NOT turn-based, despite what it says on the tin), and campaign objectives are unsatisfying. Defeating enemy commanders accomplishes nothing, so exploring gets very frustrating, and keeping your troops alive is mostly pointless since you can't lose your heroes and the maximum army stack is easy to reach. I guess hero levels allow for some meaningful "deckbuilding" style when it comes to army comp, but who cares when combat is autochess? You don't get to actually do anything cool either way.
Fights are too involved for an autobattler, and too casual for an RTS. Skirmish mode has boring maps, plus the existence of Purgatory makes it really chaotic and imbalanced. So the story mode is supposed to be this game's saving grace, and indeed it gets carried for a while by a cool setting and a basic but relatable premise. But then writing gets progressively more rushed, unreasonable and unenjoyable. My honest advice is, if you can read, read a book instead. And if you can't, wow, good job on getting through this review.
Campaign was engaging and fun! Had a great time trying to optimise my startegy for the harder difficulties, but it never felt overwhelming or it didn't have situations where you think you would need to have a degree to actually enjoy the bloody thing. Good job!
This is an incredible modernization of the Age of Wonders formula. The campaign alone is worth getting the game for, but really that seems to be more of a primer for the wider skirmish mode that I will probably be dumping hundreds of more hours into.
Overall I went into it expecting a simple strategy game, but I found a unique and captivating experience that felt unlike anything I have played before. It’s a beautiful mix of a grand strategy game and a card based RPG. I felt so immersed in its world and its story. It’s a brilliant example of innovation in a genre that sometimes feels a little stale. Gameplay The gameplay is where this game really finds its originality. The strategic map reminds me a little of classic grand strategy games. I enjoy moving my armies across the beautiful map, claiming resources and exploring ancient ruins. But the combat is where my heart races. It’s a mix of real time army movements and a card based system. I get so nervous when my smaller army faces a larger one but I feel a rush of excitement when I play the perfect card to buff my troops or call in reinforcements. There was one time I was about to lose a battle but I played a card that gave my last unit a huge shield and they managed to ho...
Great story campaign and scenarios
A beautiful, elegantly crafted strategy game. I've spent most of the time reading the numerous ability descriptions and lore, while maneuvering armies to their next battle. In battles, you can use various abilities to aid the troops, but otherwise, you may only watch and hope that the army composition you went with will triumph. Preparation and troop composition will be the main deciding factor here, so you'd be wise to study up on those unit/ability cards. The game has very sleek design, both flow and presentation wise. A high fantasy epic, that is a joy to experience.
Its fun
