MEGA MAN X DiVE Offline is a reimagining of the mobile and online action RPG that initially brought the Mega Man X universe into the realm of gacha-driven gameplay. With the “Offline” version, Capcom strips away the always-online requirements, microtransactions, and event-driven economy of the original, delivering a standalone experience tailored more toward traditional Mega Man fans. What remains is a content-rich, albeit sometimes repetitive, side-scrolling action game that pays deep homage to the franchise’s long history, while also carving out its own niche with RPG and customization elements. The core structure of MEGA MAN X DiVE Offline revolves around fast-paced 2D action platforming across hundreds of bite-sized stages. Rather than adopting the more open, nonlinear approach of classic Mega Man X games, this title organizes its levels into short, challenge-based missions across multiple game modes. Each mission typically lasts a minute or two and focuses on specific objec...

DISCLAIMER: I didn't pay full price for this game, I got it on sale for $5. This game is FANTASTIC when you just want a quick Mega Man fix! The various weapon options are nice, but the big draw is the roster of characters. X DiVE Offline is to Mega Man as Budokai Tenkaichi is to Dragon Ball; A toy box that you can dip into and play around with for hours, or even just a little bit. It's also cool that you can access the online events at your leisure through a menu, but they STILL rotate automatically as time passes! And if you're like me, and concerned about making all of your premium currency count, you'll be happy to know that the final story mode stage can actually be used to farm premium currency! It's not a ton at a time, but knowing there's an unlimited supply is still a comfort.
The reploid who is your mission control has the most annoying voice, and honestly the controls aren't that great. And you can tell that this was a gatcha game once.
This is a weird little game. There is definitely a lot of fun stuff here like a bunch of characters to play as and neat weapons to use. Unfortunately there is a lot of bad here as well. My main gripe is that the levels feel so dull and short. This is obviously a mobile game and it shows. Levels last maybe 2 minutes tops and are pretty linear. Every now and again you will find a different path to take, but it doesn't really do anything as it'll end up with you fighting the same basic enemies on this platform or that platform. Another big WTF is the the translation seems to have been done by an off brand version of google translate and almost all the dialogue makes no sense. Multiple times I had to read things multiple times because my brain would not let me believe that the combination of words that I was reading was actually in front of my eyes. I am just a bit shocked Capcom was like "Yeah this looks good! Money please!" Well it is Capcom so I guess I can't be too shocked. There are s...
Mega Man X DiVE is full of deep cut references, and reverence for the source material. It's nice to see (most of) it preserved in offline form. Some outfits based on older designs were censored due to mobile store requirements, and these have not been restored in this offline release.

I played this game a lot back when it was first online. It made me fall in love with mega man, helped me get through some hard times, and even got me to realize i was trans (somehow lmao). I was increadibly sad once it shut donw, and just a little while ago learned about the offline version, so when i saw it on sale, i couldn't help but buy it. Not worth $30, but if you catch it on sale, dont sleep on it.
You need to use the mouse for selecting things but plays with a controller. I really like this one, it's a lot of fun.
I want to preface this review with the note that the *idea* behind this game is incredibly laudable. Taking an online gacha game and putting up an offline, de-gacha'd version after its servers dropped is great and more companies should do it. As someone who has personally sworn off gacha, I appreciate being able to try it without having to interact with gacha mechanics. In short, while I'd say this game is a tentative recommendation for Mega Man fans that are *deep* in the sauce (of which I count myself among their number), I can't find much to recommend for anyone else. While the game has well and truly had all MTX elements removed from it, and you're only going to pay the asking price up-front for everything in the game, the game itself is still immensely grindy. You'll be constantly replaying levels to grind currency to level yourself up, as the game is still the same at its core as the original; more about having Bigger Numbers than having superior gameplay. The lack of gacha...
