About This Game

Decades after the Shimu people were forced to flee their homeland due to the invasion of a mysterious force known as the Withered, the Shimu have returned to reclaim their rightful home: the fantastical island of AGHASBA. As junior architect, it’s your job to rebuild the villages of your once-mighty civilization as well as nurse Aghasba’s once-thriving ecosystems back to life.

EXPLORE THE ISLAND OF AGHASBA
Traverse varied terrain, scale colossal mountains and gaze out upon jaw-dropping vistas, all brought to life in a vibrant, high-fidelity art style. Befriend strange and memorable creatures, learn the storied history of the Shimu people and uncover the dark origins of the Withered.

REBUILD THE SHIMU CIVILIZATION

Build sprawling settlements and watch them come alive as they’re inhabited by members of the Shimu tribe. Lose yourself in a rich creative sandbox as you decorate and construct your villages in a way that’s uniquely you.

RESTORE AGHASBA’S ECOSYSTEMS

Restore life to a devastated land by nurturing the growth of beautifully bizarre ecosystems. Grow plant life, attract & feed animals, and work with the gods of Aghasba to revitalize the island.

BRAVE THE WITHERED LANDS

Much of Aghasba is still infested with the Withered, a dark force that absorbs the life from all it touches. Craft weapons, armor and elixirs before venturing into the Withered Lands and battle bloodthirsty Withered monsters, gradually ridding the island of the Withered plague.

KEY FEATURES OF MULTIPLAYER

Team up with friends, and together, breathe life back into Aghasba! Each player has a unique island, their own personal world to decorate, cultivate thriving ecosystems, and restore from the blight of the Withered. In co-op multiplayer, players can team up to breathe new life into each other’s islands.

Please note that multiplayer is currently in a prototype stage.

  • Cooperative Gameplay: Join forces with up to three friends (4 total, including the host) to explore and revitalize the island. Engage in activities such as decorating, building, combating the Withered, planting diverse ecosystems, and gathering resources.

    • ToA MP focuses solely on cooperative play, with no player-versus-player elements.

  • Personalized Islands: Every player maintains their own distinct island, reflecting their creative vision and efforts in healing the land. While islands remain individual and do not transfer between players, the collaborative experience allows for shared exploration and mutual assistance.

  • Shared Progress: Items and amity acquired during multiplayer sessions seamlessly transfer back to your personal island. This ensures that cooperative endeavors contribute meaningfully to your individual progress and development.

    • Quest Progression in Co-op is currently available in a beta state. Note that any quest and story progression experienced in multiplayer is only applied to the host and does not carry over to other players in their own worlds.

Don't let the "mixed reviews" or negative ones sway your choice from buying this game. For something that is early access this game is magnificent, of course there are a few bugs here and there but what game doesn't these days? Everything visually in this game is stunning, you cant just breeze through but its also not a boring grind. Content is actually fantastic, I've played 25 hours so far and I'm barely past the first village on the mainland. Survivalists, it is a mild survival but i think that with more updates it could potentially be a bit grindier. Base buildings, decoration etc are all fantastic and you have alot of freedom, grid placement is fantastic. Story. I was quite suprised. I giggled and laughed quite a fair bit during some scenes. So far it has been quite engaging and captivating, i havent skipped one yet which is rare for me. Credit to the writers there. If you want a game that gives you some direction but also lets you pretty much do whatever you want with cool creat...

I am giving this a positive recommendation just because I don't want to give a false impression to other gamers or the devs, but this game really wasn't for me. TL;DR: Game tags don't correctly represent the goal of the game, and the interactions are janky and awkward. Pretty, but too slow and grindy for me. I picked it up because of the "creature collector" tag, but I played for just under 10 hours, and didn't "collect" one creature. They do have a system that draws new creatures in, that you can study and add to a textbook of creatures, but you don't actually collect the creature. Just study it. I was hoping for some Palworld/Pokemon type where every creature is catchable/tameable, interact-with-able, but these creatures just eat your treats and poop, then run away from you. I love the type of "Catch em all" feeling games, but this one missed that mark in my opinion. The world is very beautiful and incredibly unique, right down to the creature design and music, and I enjoyed...

Very promising Early Access, if in doubt wait for a sale or the end of Early Access. The latest economy update made it way more enjoyable for me. The best aspect to me is that the world feels huge and the first island starts quite barren but you as the chosen one can turn it into a lush green island so some degree. Special seeds you plant grow sometimes multiple stages and this increases their range of the seed specific biome, the size and amount of animals and biome related plants. So it actually feels alive once you made an area nice again. Combat balancing is hit and miss, at least to me as I explore a lot and never know if I should engage stuff to make the blighted creatures go away or if they are strong and send me packing home. This combined with huge world is a bit of a bummer but there is fast travel once unlocked and gliding once unlocked both help a lot. Another neat balancing factor is that you have to be conscious about taking from the biomes. You get a kind of life forc...

My rig couldn't run it because it needs 6 GB of vram and even after adjustments it just never got to a playable state. I left a negative review and they reached out and walked through the situation with me and that's how I figured out vram was likely the culprit. The game definitely could use some optimization tweaks but I hope it gets better with time.

I am really loving the game. A fantastic world and great story. Even though it is early access support has been fantastic - have been really impressed with the dev's help when I encountered a bug. Game runs great on my PC - no issues. Patches are coming fast and furious - making each time I log on a better and better experience.

NO.
