Really good remake of very good old FPS, ROTT Keeps original spirit, showcase how remasters should be done.

I enjoyed what I played so far! Wouldn't say it's better than the original, since I grew up playing the 1995 version. But would recommend to anyone who likes FPSs, maze-like puzzles, and who doesn't mind swearing or gore. I was needing something new to get back into one of my favorite childhood games and this one just gave me the perfect challenge I needed. Also, there are cheat codes online if easy is a little too challenging. I know I still need them since I'm mainly a Sims girly and first person shooters are not my strong suit!

I bought this game thinking it was the original, but that is the Ludicrous Edition.

Oh boy...where to even start... Unfortunately, this right here was my introduction to ROTT. I couldn´t bring myself to finish this last year when I first played it, but playing and finishing the original earlier this month gave me strenght to not only return to this. but also 100% it. I´ll start with the good, because there´s very, VERY little of it. I think the remix of the soundtrack is better than the original, although I love the original as well. What I also like is the more straightforward level design, compared to the often confusing level design of the original where you constantly had to backtrack. Another (sort of) good thing, is that the bad powerups last for a much shorter period of time than they did in the original, but then again, so do the good ones, so I´ve kinda mixed feelings on that. And now for the bad. Oh man.....first being that the game just looks terrible. This looks like a game from ´05 or ´06, despite coming out in 2013. That wouldn´t be that ...

Rise of the Triad is a classic gem that I first discovered back in my DOS days. I still remember buying the shareware floppy from a local bookstore just to see what it was all about, and instantly falling in love with its absurd speed and over-the-top mechanics. Long before Unreal Tournament hit the scene, ROTT was pushing the pace and I truly believe Unreal owes some of its spirit to this original shooter. This release brought me right back to those childhood PC gaming memories. The wild action, the ridiculous weapons, and that frantic old-school energy still shine through today. For anyone who loves classic FPS history, this is a must-play.
