The game is a clone of Space Rangers, and, unfortunately, a low quality one. Starting from character creation English texts is full of grammar errors (possibly machine translation). Switching to Russian fixes grammar, but writing is still sloppy. Annoying monotonous music, a couple UI glithes in first 15 minutes. So, while I was interested in playing something like Space rangers again, this was an instant refund

About This Game
Starsim is a sci-fi multi-genre (pausable real-time, text quest, turn-based tactics) computer game where you can be anyone.
Players explore a partially randomly generated galaxy, with each sector containing multiple stars and planets. This results in a universe of hundreds of planets, each with its own economy, government and opinion of the player.

The game is not limited by borders and allows players to influence the branching storyline. At the same time, the larger and more expansive game world lives and evolves on its own. In Starsim, players will have the opportunity to test their skills not only in space, but also in turn-based tactics.
One of the game's features is the simulation of ship control, including crew management, ship modification and control of systems such as weapons, engines and shields.
In Starsim, the player will control a spaceship and crew as they travel across the galaxy and complete various missions. He will be able to choose missions, explore new planets, star systems, star sectors. Participate in battles with enemies both on land and in space.
In addition, the player will have the opportunity to show their leadership potential and manage the team in various situations, such as missions and battles.
Overall, Starsim is a fun combination of different genres and mechanics that allows the player to experience a unique space world and create their own story.

Is this a joke? I feel like I just played the Wish.com version of an amazing game from 13 years ago called Space Rangers. Unfortunately, its like a lesser quality version and if I played the two side by side I would think this Star Sim was the old game since it has worse graphics and seems like a stripped down clone. Very bummed because i love this genre and still pull out space rangers from time to time for a shot of nostalgia. Steer clear of this one, its a bummer.
Very much enjoying my time playing Starsim. Plays very well on steam deck. Dev is active and updating game regularly. Very chill and enjoyable space game. Edit: after 3 hrs the game is growing on me. I'm really not sure what the negative reviews are about. The dev is actively addressing issues and the game is really fun. Peoples expectations are likely too high for an indie game. I've played Space Rangers before and I actually prefer this game over it. Personal preference.
Played the demo and just started the full game but this grame is great for immersing yourself in the atmosphere of space adventure. Referring to the classic of the genre - Space Rangers and revives nostalgic emotions for the good old days. Totally recommend!
New Space rangers))
Good enough but could be better
Just to mention the differences to Space Rangers:

Interesting crew fights (like in Darkest Dungeon), but 2D sprites do not fully fit the game style.
New faction system with statuses adds some variability, but text quests seem too common.
Can also be difficult if you haven't played Space Rangers before
Overall, it is a decent game in an unusual genre. I cannot remember a game in this genre for a long time.
Space Rangers + Star Traders: Frontiers
Pros:

Deep gameplay.
Galaxy lives by himself, so you never know what's going to happen next.
There's a ton of activities to keep you busy, like planet missions, trading, scavenging, searching planets with probes, fighting aliens, and more.
Cons:

Difficult game. A good manual would be nice.
Good, old-school, space top-down RPG game
Game is poorly translated seemingly from Russian. Buggy
