Oof... while Rerun is a lightly entertaining little game (and I am putting a heavy emphasis on *little*,) it does not live up to its name. To put it simply, it is completely lackluster and a run-of-the-mill roguelike. The game lacks depth, variety, and challenge. Even though there are several characters (mostly unlockable) to choose from, their abilities are mundane. You get to form a team of two characters at the start of each run, but there are no advantages or disadvantages to creating specific pairings, so you basically pick any two. Progression through the dungeon has you navigating an overly simplified path of stages that don't have any drawbacks and offer uninteresting rewards. Each stage is a little square map with a spattering of the same cookie-cutter enemies and obstacles. I was expecting at least several hours of gameplay that would require multiple runs before even reaching the boss. I ended up beating the game in 2-hours while watching TV and eating dinner. In the end, I...

I'm absolutely bias because my friend made this game but, If you like FTL but want it dungeons and dragons style this is a game for you. Also its cheap! It's got a lot of variety and daily challenges. plenty of replay-ability.
It's very obviously trying to do something with the limited actions and tiny hp, but, like... Nothing's standard and everything does something weird, not to mention that there's things that instantly kill your heroes unapologetically. The random aspects are.... Complete trash if I'm honest. You can get mods, spells, and actions, yes, but.... They're all useless. They all do weird things that take actions, and because you only have 1 main and 1 bonus action, a lot of the time you'll get into position, do one action, then oop you have no more actions ":)", resulting in guaranteed damage or the battle taking longer. There's no meta tree, no builds, nothing, really, just a starting loadout via heroes and that's it. Tldr, Skin deep and too reliant on rng combined with micromanaging everything, from where you put the heroes, when you do the actions, how much move the enemies have while the game throws enemies that randomly swap you and limited abilities to begin with, and it's a headache ...
Wooo this game killed me so many times! I'm happy I kept playing though, the mechanics are pretty juicy and deep. The roguelike ability selection really keeps each run fresh. Also the characters are adorable/hilarious. Chadwick and Thadwick look absolutely ridiculous :D I would say the closest comparison in terms of gameplay is Into the Breach. Where Into the Breach feels like a procedurally generated puzzle game, this one feels like an actual tactics game where you progress and learn new skills.
I'm having fun with this game! The gameplay loop is good and I've tried a few combinations of heroes and they're all uniquely fun. How they interact with one another to create unique ways to beat enemies is great as well. I think I've said "this is my last run" about 15 times so far, yet I'm still playing it and getting better and better scores.
Yes! This is a super fun beer n pretzels roguelite strategy game.
This was a really fun introduction to turn based rogue-likes! The character dialogues and surprise mechanics really reminded me of games like Magicka and Helldivers. Tough guy and Spooky guy are my favourites so far
