EDIT: I realize that this game came out before Elsewhere, this explains a lot lol I truly wanted to enjoy this since I LOVED Elsewhere. Thing is, as a wave shooter its adequate, but when played after Elsewhere this feels so....underwhelming. Apparently there's more story but I think I will be watching a lets play for that. My issue comes mostly with the fact that Elsewhere's shooting also came with positional elements and Nightmare only has one pace (that i've found so far). However, the adoration I had for Elsewhere's dodge and roll mechanics that let me go nyoom during combat made me so excited for this game, and the lack of these elements basically killed my desire to keep playing. I get it from a story perspective, Luis is some rando in the motel and James is...well, a proper bad ass. The "helpless" element while fun for a narrative purpose falls short in something that aims to be Kill Everything Possib...

About the Game
El Paso, Nightmare is a first-person horror game about stepping out of your motel room to get a bucket of ice, and instead being greeted by horrors beyond imagination. Become down-on-his-luck IT programmer Luis Rojas as he attempts to escape the dimension-shifting disaster that players will experience in the upcoming El Paso, Elsewhere. Flee iconic horror monsters from film, literature, and myth before turning the tables with an arsenal of powerful weapons.
Following in the footsteps of classic lo-fi, high-action shooters, El Paso, Nightmare is your new destination for fighting corrupted suits of armor, damned brides, werewolves, vampires, and more, in an endless, replayable survival showcase.
This is the second worst day of Luis Rojas' life.
Make sure it doesn't become his first.
