A nice, short deckbuilder which plays alot like a singleplayer Ascension, but with a focus on damage. There's a series of different bosses to fight (which mostly functions as a timer but they often throw additional spanners in your works) that are all, atleast interesting. I like the shakeup halfway through that changes the starting deck as well with a nice sendoff on the new final boss. It has an appealing artstyle (atleast to me), the sounds are nice and crunchy, played with a controller turns can go fast and animations are snappy. Which is great cause it allows you to stay in a flow state and focus on building your strategy and react to whatever is coming instead of waiting for long animations. For the price i got a good 3.5 hours out of it and i would say i enjoyed all of it.

KEY FEATURES
Simple to learn, hard to master
This deck-building game is trying to be accessible for both newcomers and veterans to the genre, with simple controls and clear rules. Still, each turn needs to be thought-out to beat the charming bosses!
Full of variety
With over 60 unique cards and a deck of that is shuffled every game means that the battlefield is always changing. You have to adapt and come up with new strategies to defeat all 10 bosses!
Colorful cast
With characters such as a shifty barkeep, a double agent witch or a cute death this game does not follow any real theme. They have a lot of personality presented in this pixel-art game!
- Good luck!

User Reviews
Single-player deckbuilder in the tradition of Ascension with a random center row of buyable cards and fightable monsters. Twist: You're also fighting a boss! Solid mechanics and room for synergies and clever plays. Made for controller (originally a PICO-8 game), which makes it a great fit for the Steam Deck too!
Very interesting and inventive card game. Definitely deserves more love.
Fantastic game tho I wish it could be played with the mouse
NICE GAME but gets repetitive because there are no unlocks
Very fun afternoon game. To be clear, this is not a roguelite like Spire (not that the store page would lead you to believe that but I think some people see deckbuilder and just assume), instead you select a boss fight and develop your deck from a weak starter deck over the course of the fight. Feels very boardgame-esque (I didn't play much Legendary but from what little I did play it reminds me of that) in that you're moreso focused on building a decent deck that can beat the boss QUICKLY rather than a perfect deck slowly. Throws a couple of surprises at you but nothing too too crazy. Only qualm is that once I learned all the systems, it felt like the endgame fights were a little too easy, especially if you're able to get going in the first couple of turns. All in all had a great time with it though
An enjoyable little single player deckbuilding game that can be played on lunch breaks but still has some depth. Worth a purchase if you enjoyed the Pico-8 version, this version has some notable improvements.
A fun, single player version of a drafting game like star realms. I recommend it if you like the genre, but it lacks personality (oh the irony!) and feels a bit generic. Certainly enjoyable though.
it's a fun game!
Fun take on deck building with a nice aesthetic and gamefeel :D
