About This Game

HOW WILL YOU SURVIVE?

Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance.

As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.

Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

Overcome an ever-present deadly threat – Experience persistent fear as a truly dynamic and reactive Alien uses its senses to hunt you down and respond to your every move.

Improvise to survive – Hack systems, scavenge for vital resources and craft items to deal with each situation. Will you evade your enemies, distract them or face them head on?

Explore a world of mystery and betrayal – Immerse yourself in the detailed setting of Sevastopol, a decommissioned trading station on the fringes of space. Encounter a rich cast of inhabitants in a world scarred by fear and mistrust.

When she left Earth, Ellen Ripley promised her daughter Amanda she would return home for her 11th birthday. Amanda never saw her again.

Fifteen years later, Amanda, now a Weyland-Yutani employee, hears that the flight recorder of her mother’s ship, the Nostromo, has been recovered at the remote trading station Sevastopol. The temptation for her to finally understand what happened is too much to resist. When the crew arrive at Sevastopol, they find something is desperately wrong. It all seems to be connected to an unknown menace, stalking and killing deep in the shadows.

In order to uncover the truth about her mother, Amanda is forced to confront the same terrifying thing that separated them.

If anxiety was a game, this would be it, after finishing the game for the first time i told myself "i'm not playing this ever again", well here i am, after 5 years i decided to play again at the hardest difficulty, it was a very different experience from the first time, never felt so scared and vulnerable in a game before, the Alien is so fucking stressful, i hate this mf, but also love it at the same time, amazing game, an experience that is one of a kind

Curator disclaimer: five minutes read - I always wanted to review this game!
Giger Lives
Alien design came from our lord and savior H.R. Giger, but his vibes are disappearing from Alien movies. This game is very important if you understand what the first movie did, since it keeps you on it without the interference of "Predators" or "Colonial Marines." I know it's cool but it has no place here, at least for now. But what this does for the Alien universe? Minor spoiler:
No big revelations other than suggestive references to draconian corporations. Aliens director's cut even hits differently.

10 years old game - Have it aged?
After all this time, only now I can see how some details were a lot better. Art and level design is talented and technical---the real star of this game. The retro-futurism is inviting to Alien 1 fans considering the 70s aesthetics. Also the sound FX design plays a major role, and the music boosts it as well. ht...

buy it. it cannot be stressed enough how much of a work of art Alien Isolation truly is. this game is a decade old and still looks beautiful due to absolutely masterful art direction. you think you've been scared by a game? play this and ask yourself again.

Started crashing on reload after dying. This bug has affected a lot of players but still no fix after 11 years! All proposed workarounds are ineffective, and some are merely shotgunning (equivalent to power cycling for all problems). The fact that the developer can't provide a fix even after 11 years, for a game that has become unplayable due to a fatal bug shows how committed they are to their after sales support. Do not recommend.

HANDS DOWN in my top 3 gaming experiences ever, to this day.
This game changed me.
I have not been the same ever since. I am not sure if this is a spoiler, as I have no idea if this was by design or if I had just gotten lucky, but I will never forget the sheer horror
of hearing a sound behind me while hiding in a vent, thinking that surely it can't be the xenomorph, only to turn around and see it rushing at me - mind you, this was close to the end of my playthrough, and up until that point, I had been SURE that the vents are the only place where I am ALWAYS safe in this game. Haven't questioned that for a second, because that's what this game had consistently shown me for the first 20-30h. [strike] Which, in hindsight, is ridiculous to believe, cause hello, have I watched the Alien movies?? [/strike] I am still not sure if this was designed like this to give me this false sense of safety only to crush it later, or if I had just been getting extre...

If you like the original Alien trilogy, this is a must play. They recreated exactly the same atmosphere from the first movie especially. Play it at night, with the volume all the way up and you will be literally terrorized to turn the next corner in the game. 10/10

Xenomorph feels like a real threat that hunts you, can show up at any moment, and except small portion you are never trully safe from

Great game made greater by experiencing it for the first time in VR. Played this in VR with the Mother mod. It was terrifying and awesome and at time difficult. I wouldn't have played it any other way.

Possibly the best survival horror game going. Haunting, yet beautiful graphics in an BioShock-esque space setting. The feeling of being stalked like in Resident Evil 7, RE:2 & 3. Elements of the hiding and helplessness of Outlast. The intensity being the commonality across all. Awesome interquel that organically fits into the Alien universe, doing a brilliant job of not being shoe-horned in to the franchise for its own sake. 9/10

I tried to like it. I love the setting, I love the films, I love the whole theme. But the gameplay and some of the design choices had me irritated from start to finish. I dragged myself through it just I wanted to beat it. And now I have. Finally. I didn’t enjoy the pointless filler interactions that added nothing to the gameplay. Open a door? LB+LS Down. Pull a switch? LB+RB+both sticks down. Start a generator? Mash the A button to fill a circle three times, just because. It’s tedious. Even once it became muscle memory, I kept asking myself what the point of it was. Even the main character’s grating voice gets tiring at some point. And somehow it got worse by the end. QTEs thrown in out of nowhere, just for the hell of it. SPOILERS below, I guess: The tropes were so overused they went from familiar to boring. The falling elevators. The "oops, I fell and hurt myself" moments. The lazy puzzle design: "I need a keycard to continue—oh look, it's in the same room...
