About the Game

Man vs. Machine

Roguelite. Horde Survival. Squad-Builder.

In a world threatened by evil M.E.G.A. Corp.’s private robot army, the last bastion of hope for mankind is a bunch of armed lunatics who signed up for a mercenary job.

Who's better to lead them than a disposable clone with an unpredictable set of special traits? Welcome to your new assignment, Commander.

Take the battle to the enemy and build your underfunded, over-ambitious outfit into an apocalyptic war machine that rids the world of evil billionaire overlords.

With all chances stacked against your rebellious operation, this isn’t about glory. This is about the loot!

Every Commander clone is created from a set of randomly selected traits. Can you lead your squad to victory with a hawk-eyed, sly Infiltrator? Or take on the enemy alone with a nocturnal, greedy One-Man Army? How about a brilliant, vampiric Ninja?

Each combination of traits yields a unique run with its own set of challenges, mechanics, and surprising synergies.

Equip your favorite weapon and unleash the havoc! But first, you need a squad:

Assemble your team of mercenaries from a roster of vigorous fighters. Each Merc totes their own arsenal and tactics to tackle the horde.

Recruit the right Mercs into your squad for each operation, supercharge their combat effectiveness by specializing in complex skill trees, and leverage their synergies with hi-tech Gear to build a game-breaking, horde-slaying killer squad.

Navigate a variety of procedurally generated maps in each operation. Capture objectives to call in reinforcements or sack valuable loot.

Strike hard and fast! The clock is ticking. Each minute wasted on the battlefield is punished with more and stronger enemies.

Call in your extraction point and defend it to make it out alive! Or survive long enough to face dangerous bosses and their underlings.

But beware: it's all or nothing! Die and lose your loot. Or survive and take home your spoils of war to come back even stronger!

Invest your loot to hire new Mercs, purchase new Gear, expand your bunker HQ for powerful upgrades, or research new traits & weapons for your Commander clones.

Direct your squad with tactical abilities or fight actively in the battle – each Commander clone and loadout offers a completely different play style.

Experiment and find your optimal squad build for any challenge the procedural maps may offer. No two runs will ever be the same!

 • Control a Commander clone, generated from 3 random Traits, with over 15,000 unique combinations

 • Lead your squad with actively controlled weapons and many different active & passive abilities

 • Build your squad from a large variety of Mercs with unique skill trees & specializations

 • Select from dozens of Gear items to modify and improve your squad

 • Conduct your Operations on distinct, procedural Maps with different mission parameters, difficulty, and unique Bosses

 • Upgrade your Bunker HQ in between Operations with the loot you’ve scavenged

 • Full support for controllers and keyboard/mouse input

 • Stream the game with Twitch integration and let your audience decide your fate

 • Play on SteamDeck, full compatibility verified
TLDR
It's alright. Too grindy, gets boring.
Ramblies
The idea of mercs and the unlocking of them is good but they lack depth coupled with the grindy balancing and capping of player power right before the builds start to feel decent makes this lackluster compared to other games of this genre. The merc trees are super simple and the balancing is bad. There's really one obvious good tree per merc and the rest are bait. Itemization likewise is braindead due to the lack of balance and there's only a handful of things you look out for. Difficulty jumps a ridiculous amount and result in just grinding until you have the proper unlocks then reroll RNG until you hit the right combinations in order to progress. It's less adapting to the situation instead finding the exact combination needed to win. All of this comes together in a lackluster experience devoid of player expression with a grind that feels monotonously hollow in the end.

It was a fun rougelike top down shooter. They updated it, and recommended to reset the game and start over. Only to increse the difficulty to INSANE levels and let you get so little loot you need for upgrading shit that the grind feels like a PTW phone game. Unless they change up the game immensely, I say KEEP AWAY! Even for free this game would not be in a good spot

As far as I can tell this was a promising game that's is dead, with no community and no proper support and is unplayable on steam deck if you want to read anything the game says. Shame. Seemed really cool. Skip it like a muddy puddle.

I really want to like this game, but the pacing is awful. You'll be strong enough to finish the first area, and then you'll have to grind for ages to be able to finish the second area. It's frustrating because it's so inconsistent and then the dumb, multiple hurdles you have to go through to unlock stuff. You need to rescue someone, and then you have to pay for them, etc. And you'll get different resources at wildly uneven rates. Not to mention the infuriating "bonuses" that handicap something else to increase a different thing--an absolutely maddeningly stupid mechanic that forces you to be overall the same mediocre character with very little real advancement. They didn't put a ton of thought into whether you'd enjoy this, so the fact that I keep playing it is just evidence of how close this is to being fun. It has moments where its very enjoyable and other moments where you just alt-f4 and decide to quit playing something someone did not care about or apparently didn't play test them...
