Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/ePJoKEx85OA This is the best Steam VR game released in 2024 that I have played so far. I have no idea why this game currently has zero reviews. It absolutely shouldn't be done dirty like this by the PCVR community. If you love PCVR, then you owe it to yourself to check out this game. While I don't think it's for everyone, if you're looking for a unique & challenging metroidvania built for VR, then this game might get its hook into you like it did in me. First thing you should know is that while this game does have similarities to Moss, it is a completely different game. Moss is great and definitely deserves all the accolades it has gotten. However, this is its own game with a different target audience. This is more of a hardcore challenge. While it's not exactly Dark Souls, it's still more challenging than most VR games. The game has a seemingly simple gameplay loop, but with a lot of h...

It's sad this didn't get more attention, because I think this is a pretty good game. This isn't just a third-person game. It's like Moss where you control the little guy on the ground, but you are also a character in the world as well. This type of game where you are effectively playing two characters like this is really fun and is something that's different from most other VR games. The gameplay is pretty simple. It's mainly just combat with minor puzzles involving the "mixtures" that you throw as your VR character. It's simple, but it works for the game. The game doesn't get too repetitive as you gain new mixtures throughout the game and also can upgrade the little moth guy to change some things up. The mixtures are used outside of battle, but can also be used in battle for different effects. One thing I really like from games like this is that the worlds can feel really large, while not actually being that large because of the scale of your VR character. Because the world ...

In short: Lazy controls, bad gameplay, and no reason for it to be in VR. I legitimately do not get the positive reviews of this game. You sit there controlling the little critter using your thumbstick, you spam attacks, occasionally glide, and throw potions at things (you will need aim assist to hit anything for how bad throwing is implemented). You are stuck in a third-person camera perspective, potions are "gather colored stuff, automatically mix" with no experimentation or creativity to be had, and if you forgot one of the 3 controls I assure you there is no pause menu to be found. Just force quit and start from the main menu again. So if you enjoy spamming the attack button while you sit there tossing potions at mediocre-looking scenes, this is the game for you. If you want a VR game to actually look good or have you doing something, look elsewhere. A parting question for the developer: why is this in VR at all? What, in this gameplay loop you've made, takes any advantage of the u...

Works on Reverb G2. Mixture is original, fun and challenging VR 3rd person action/puzzler/platformer, that manages to be nothing like Moss. But it is also noticeably low-budget, unpolished and quite ugly by PC standards. For me, the positives slightly outweigh those negatives. Combat is frantic and much more involved, than in Moss. Mix of 3rd person hack'n'slah and 1st person throwing is engaging and satisfying. At its best you need to constantly switch attack directions and throw various potions, while refilling alchemy resources. Most puzzles also require quick actions: they are focused more on precise execution than planning. Now for the negatives: Mixture looks terrible, especially compared to Moss. Environment and character designs are creative, but everything lacks polygons and good textures. All the dialogue lacks voice-overs, reading non-diegetic text in VR is never enjoyable. There are a lot of minor gameplay bugs and flaws: PoV sometimes switches incorrectly during death...

I'm almost an hour in, but I really like it. It plays like Moss but with more of a combat focus and less of the tedious braindead puzzles where you have to move blocks onto switches. You can glide onto platforms. The textures aren't anything to write home about, but it's neat having a character that talks back. Throwing the flasks is a bit annoying since they miss a lot, but the game seems to be balanced around the expectation that you'll miss a lot. It's cool having to multi-task and scrounge for elements for more flasks to throw while also making sure your character dodges the attacks and doesn't die. The combat would be straight-forward and nothing to write about, but having to look away from the fighting on occasion to get raw materials adds the multi-tasking that makes it a little more interesting. Experienced on Quest 3.
