Easily the best Metal Gear game and one of the greatest games ever made. The jungle setting is absolutely perfect and the survival mechanics add so much depth to the stealth gameplay. Boss fights are legendary, each one feels completely unique and memorable. The End sniper battle is still one of gaming's greatest encounters. Story is Kojima at his absolute best, managing to be both deeply emotional and completely bonkers at the same time. Snake Eater theme song gives me chills every time. The whole 1960s Cold War spy thriller atmosphere is nailed perfectly. Camouflage system is brilliant and makes you really think about your environment. The final ladder climb and salute still hit incredibly hard emotionally. CQC system feels great and adds new combat options. Even the codec conversations are entertaining and full of personality. Controls can feel a bit dated now but the game design is so strong it doesn't matter.

I adore this game. I've been working my way through the Master Collection Vol. 1 and the entire time I've been thinking I'll get to replay this game as a treat. I enjoy MG1&2 and MGS1&2, but all of them are really just setting up this game. Playing this game was the first time Hideo Kojima's oddities finally clicked for me. The gameplay for MG3 is so much better than 1 and 2. Now that 5 exists it isn't really the best in the series gameplay wise, but it is definitely still great. If Delta improves some of the gameplay hard edges 3 might become the best in the series again. The aiming is a bit odd still and there's no crouch walking in this version. The rest of the gameplay is just a great sandbox though. The bosses are fun and they all have their little tricks. You can mess with the guards in a bajillion ways. This game is just fun to play. The plot is interesting. Playing it again now I kind of get frustrated with just how long the in game cinematics and codex calls can last. T...

I will forever love this game. Really hoping the remaster runs well on PC when it launches. (probably won't)

The port itself is fine for the most part, but make sure to get a mod to fix the inconsistent audio quality.

Classic great MGS game. One of the best boss fights of all time. Good port of the OG version, runs great on steam deck with a 16:10 mod that's very easy to install.

Save yourself the $ and time and just play the OG. The controls have been butchered.
